A popular southern governor (executive experience) in Tim Kaine really would be a nice choice for Obama.  Even if Virginia still would be a likely McCain win.

i bet he goes with biden. he's lost touch with his base since the FISA vote and whatnot. a conservative VP would probably lose him votes.

Obama has also had meeting with Bill Richardson, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.  No one will know his choice till Friday.  Virgina is becoming more Democrat because Washington D.C.'s influence has spread deep into Virgina.  D.C. is hardcore Dem.

Who says this meeting means Obama's picked Kaine. It could mean completely the opposite. He could be meeting with Kaine to say "sorry, you're not the guy".

I think the meetings are just to help him with his decision. He's making phone calls to tell potential candidates they're out of the running and the decision will probably be announced via press conference, not private meeting.
