(WMR) -- With less than two months remaining in office, George W. Bush, witnessing a devastating defeat for the Republican Party, worse favorability ratings than those of Richard Nixon at the height of the Watergate scandal, and the most devastating economic situation since the Great Depression, is reported by a number of well-placed sources in Washington as drinking heavily.

After having tried to explain away the collapse of several Wall Street brokerage houses by saying, “Wall Street got drunk,” it appears that it is Bush who is suffering from bouts of drunkenness.

According to informed sources who spoke to WMR, Bush was visibly drunk at the recent G-20 economic summit in Washington and at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Lima, Peru. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, Chinese President Hu Jintao, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Mexican President Felipe Calderon, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper were among the world leaders who had the chance to witness an inebriated Bush both at the G-20 and APEC summits.

It could be a neurological condition or just plain clumsy.  Yes, drunk is the first thing people think of however it takes a lot of booze for a grown man to damage himself that bad.  Besides where would he hide the bottles and press is constantly around him.

Physician sees 'presenile dementia' in Bush's faltering speech

September 18, 2004—In a letter to the editor of Atlantic Monthly, October 2004, Joseph M. Price, M.D. of Carsonville, Michigan, comments that James Fallows' July/August Atlantic article on John Kerry's debating skills ("When George Meets John"), "was interesting, but most remarkable was Fallows's documentation of President Bush's mostly overlooked changes over the past decade—specifically 'the striking decline in his sentence-by-sentence speaking skills.'" Dr. Price understands Fallows' initial "speculations that there must be some organic basis for the President's peculiar mode of speech, a learning disability, a reading problem, dyslexia or some other disorder."

Quoting Fallows, Dr. Carson also agrees with him that "The main problem with these theories is that through his forties Bush was perfectly articulate." Yet, Dr. Carson stated he felt "that something organic was wrong with President Bush, most probably dyslexia, but . . . was unaware of what Fallows pointed out so clearly: that Bush's problems have been developing slowly, and that just a decade ago he was an articulate debater." He was as Fallows said, "artful indeed in steering questions and challenges to his desired subjects . . . who did not pause before forcing out big words, as he so often does now, or invent mangled new ones." As Dr. Carson suggests, "Consider, in contrast, the present: 'the informal Q&A he has tried to avoid,' 'Bush's recent faltering performances,' 'his stalling, defensive pose when put on the spot,' 'speaking more slowly and less gracefully.'"

I have always thought that he had a drinking problem. The rosy cheeks and red nose. Prominent signs of rosacea. Reminds me of some of my family members.....

Depends on what form of autism.  His speech pattern hint at Asperger's.

His speech patterns hint at numbnuts!

He seems like he's got some wetbrain going on (neurological damage due to chronic alcohol abuse), but mainly he's a bully and a bore.  Introspection is a cardinal sin among the Bush family.

Well it could be damage from drinking, that can't get any better.  Numbnuts . . . no one ever said he was bright.  Least of all him.

Notice the way he said that the problem started a decade before he came in.  Yeah, blame it on Clinton who left him in great shape.  Every problem is not because of him, every other reason in the world but him not being a competent leader.

if he is, i'm pretty sure i don't blame him. imagine knowing you're going to go down in history as one of the biggest fudge ups of all time. that's a heavy trip, man. i just wonder if he knows he deserves it.

Even if that wasn't the case just being President is stressful enough that I could see recovering alcoholics going back to the bottle.

So it was Jeb who gave him the evil pretzel. :o

No, he's just mad because no one would allow him to see what the red button on his desk does.

Not at all.  Although there might be more than booze involved.  He was reportedly once busted for cocaine.

It's funny how drug-taking is only a problem for society when people from lower social strata take the drugs...

No prob in either case.  Take youth-doping for instance.  Working class kids keep the juvenile detention complex in business.  Rich kids keep the second-tier prep schools in business.
