A poem by a friend of mine - works best as a performance piece, IMO, but seems somehow apposite given the discussion over in the evolution/creation thread.
Your book tells you how to live your life
It shows you right from wrong
It teaches you exclusion
Makes you feel that you belong
~~~Mine doesn't
Your book tells you I'm an infidel
A heathen and a sinner
It tells you how to dress
And what you can't have for your dinner
~~~Mine doesn't (although it does fetishize marmalade and duffel coats)
Your book tells you you're the chosen
And you're welcome to that view
But my book tells me that Paddington
