The Register"]A 15-year-old Ohio girl was arrested on felony child pornography charges for allegedly sending nude cell phone pictures of herself to classmates. Authorities are considering charging some of the students who received the photos as well.

The unnamed student from Licking Valley High School in Newark, Ohio was arrested Friday after school officials discovered the materials and notified police

it's funny, although this is probably the most egregious and disgusting abuse of the child pornography laws imaginable. fudgeing puritans are gonna wreck this girl's life because she sent a naked picture of herself over a cell phone. unforgivable. the fudgeing people pressing these charges should be the ones in jail.

i'm sorry but this one seriously pisses me off. this is what happens when you let born-agains run things for too long. they appoint too many of their neo-religious nutbag friends as judges and prosecutors and you start seeing stupid sheesh like this.

Some of the worst laws America has involve sex.

I've probably mentioned this before, but google "moral outrage".  You'll see some pretty disturbing abuses of sex laws in this country.

Anytime a minor can be arrested for distributing pictures of him/herself, that's just utterly ridiculous, but it does actually happen.

We can thank our dysfunctional Puritan heritage for that.

Kids will do foolish things even if you warn them.  Bill O'Reilly loves the argy-bargy about teens and sex--especially for the ratings it generates.  Girls who take nekkid pics of themselves to send to their boyfriends will get hurt.  Yeah, it's painful and embarrassing to be 15 and have your naughty bits circulating the internet, but it's not the end of the world.  We're dealing with new technology.  As the consequences of private pics gone public get pounded into the public consciousness, young girls will get wise to it and won't let it happen to themselves.

In my day, t-shirts read: "Co-ed Naked Beer Games" and "Party Naked."  Mind you, there were far more t-shirts than either activity; however, it did go on.  It was easier to forbid cameras at such events because cameras were big and looked like cameras.  Generally nothing bad happened other than the occasional gang rape.

Now if you strip down to your birthday suit, you can't tell who might be furtively recording video to upload to the 'net.  So...it's better not to do it.  Oh, and watch where you're drinking and doing drugs, those end up on the 'net too!

Not to be sexist here, but it does tend to upset the young ladies more than the young gentleman.  Mr. Herbert notwithstanding, the sense of humiliation guys feel tends to be less.

Heck, way back in my day, we just played Doctor.

Makes me wonder if we will hear cases of children charged with molesting themselves next.  ::)

you know what? i need to get the hell off the internet. i keep finding out about things that fill me with rage that i wouldn't even know about if i didn't log on. this poor dumb kid's gonna get brought up on felony charges for taking pictures of herself? that's just full-on stupid. it's like the only thing me and the right-wingers on that other board agree on, as well as every single last person on the comment board for that story that got linked to on this thread. so who the hell is doing this? it's ridiculous.

I'm kinda surprised to see you write that, Max... Trying to work out whether it's tongue-in-cheek or not

It is not tongue-in-cheek at all; it's the plain truth of what goes on.

They were afraid the pictures would get into the hands of some pervert other than her boyfriend.  Yes and they could also end up in Russia  or Deleted.  This is an overreaction.

It reads to me like you are making light of gang-rape.  I'm not sure that is what you intended

I could name a few threads where it resembled it.

Absolutely not.

I don't want to expand on this because it's off-topic, but I suppose I must, so here goes...sigh...

It was just a dry statement of consequences.  There are several consequences of "co-ed naked beer games."  Gang rape is occasionally one of them.  As I recall, the mandates of collegiate sexual politics dictate you must never judge people for expressing their sexuality and you must condemn non-consensual sexual behavior.  However, if you suggest there is a link between sexual expression and sexual assault, you take the side of the oppressive patriarchy.  So, as long as this denial persists, the occasional gang rape will be a consequence of sexually-charged partying.  The above-mentioned crime is usually an offense men commit against a woman.  I say men can never justify such a crime, but when they commit it, they are not thinking about how they are going to justify it.  One of the best crime prevention methods is to recognize situations in which you may be the victim of a crime and avoid those situations.  I remember this did not apply to college partying because the method in that case conflicted with freedom of sexual expression.

OK?  Can we get back to the topic now?

's OK, Max: I (and from the way she phrased it, Karen) figured you meant something rather like that... but as Karen said it does read rather like you're making light of it.  So thanks for the expansion - I agree completely.
