Subject: Introducing the Republician's weapon against Obama....

Jon Voight.

::)

The video below is priceless, because atleast we know what side of the bed, he is sleeping on.

He had me at Glenn Beck.

I suppose this gives some insight as to why Angelina is estranged from him.

He and Chuck Norris should be on a GOP ballot.  The older Voight gets the stranger he gets.

I'm sorry to see Voight is such a major asshat nowadays.  I'd rather remember him as Joe Buck in "Midnight Cowboy."
:(

BTW, He gives the Jewish Israelis credit for the trees.  The trees, Jon, really?  A lot of those trees were planted and cultivated by the Palestinians from whom the land was stolen.

Well, to be fair: the majority of cultivatable (is that a word?) land in Israel was made that way by Jewish settlers - fifty/sixty years ago, it was thought impossible to grow anything, it was only from incredibly hard work that it was made fertile.  The pre-Israel Palestinian Arabs weren't big on planting stuff and cultivating the land.

There were also many arguments where arid land had been bought cheaply, then made fertile and the sellers thought they'd been cheated; but on the other hand there are also arguments where the land was taken, not bought - even to the extent that at one point the Israeli supreme court said it was OK & legal to "requisition" Palestinian land for new settlements if it aided Israeli security, which meant that being able to prove you owned the land was not enough to maintain a hold on it (if you were a Palestinian Arab, that is).

I can see some similarities with the way that the American Indians were treated: because they didn't put down roots and sit on one particular patch of land, the incoming white man thought they didn't own it, even that they didn't need it and took the land for himself... I have heard a lot of this sort of post-hoc rationalization from Jews (my grandmother amongst them - my grandfather was much more thoughtful and equivocal) - they really *want* to believe that Israel is the good guy, and evidence proving otherwise is so easily just ignored.

Yeah, the Zionist saying was "A people without land, a land without people".  Which just goes to show what the Zionists thought of the Palestinians.

I hadn't come across that one.. it does sum up the root cause of the whole sorry state of things very well, doesn't it?

Ah, yes, I do stand corrected on agriculture.

Of course, Israeli Jews are still a small portion of the world's Jewish peoples.

American Jews tend to be liberal and vote Democratic.  The Republicans are trying to woo them with a single issue: Israeli militarism.

The evangelicals are demonstrating a mock allegiance via Armageddonism, if you will.    Most of them are too shrewd to buy it.  The Armageddonists believe the Jews have to reclaim all of biblical Israel for Christ to come back rapture said Armageddonists to their heaven, a very self-serving vision, wouldn't you say?  At the moment of the apocalypse, Christ will convert the good Jews to Christianity so they come go to heaven too.

Is that at all prevalent over there?  (which I guess is code for "are people *really* that stupid?")

Are they?  Yes, I'm afraid so old chap!  Obama was right when he said they cling to guns and religion.  I can't blame them.  There are whole swaths of America where that's all they've got left!  It might be a ray of sunshine on a gray day to know you're going to heaven...and those sorry sonofabitches ARE NOT!  And at least we don't have all that socialist government-run healthcare around here neither!
