According to Glenn Beck, he now has czars and a "secret army".

Appointing people to oversee specific tasks inside the White House is nothing new, nor is calling them czars.  This is just so much hot air from as guy who has nothing to say.

The appointment and naming of "czars" by presidents both Dem and Repub has always appeared silly to me.

The term "czar" would appear to be taken from the Russian trars/czars and it is.  But the Russian term is rooted in the Roman "Cæsar".

Since the various "czars" report to to the President or other figures in the administration, they are hardly in the mold or scope of Cæsar.

IN the UK we have several government "tsars" for different departments. I believe (feel free to correct me if wrong) the Russian Tsars/Czars used to have absolute power in their day- as the UK so-called socialist government moves ever closer to that level of control, it's a bitter irony here.  >:(

Last I checked Obama had 32 or 33 czars. I can understand a few czars working under a US president but 32 or 33 of them? Imagine if George W. Bush had 32 or 33 cazrs working that sort of news would have made front page headlines in major newspapers.

Is it me or...does it seem that during and after the Bush Administration looks like a Monarchy?

BTW-I don't even like Glen Beck, he's Rush Limbaugh on steroids!

26 was fine under GW, but 31 under Obama is WAY OVERKILL!  It's not like there are more problems with the country after 8 years of Bush.

Well, some of them I have to wonder about.  For example, we are on our third "Car Czar", none of which has ever worked in the manufacturing sector (let alone in the auto sector).

We also have a Domestic Violence Czar.  We have a Global Warming Czar.  We have a Great Lakes Czar.  We have a Middle East Czar.  We have a Performance Czar.  We have a Stimulis Accountability Czar.  We have a Technology Czar.  We have a Weapons Czar.  We have a Weapons Of Mass Destruction Czar.

About the only one we do not have yet is a Premature Ejaculation Czar.  But I hear that is comming soon.  ::)

Personally I'll be more worried if he's appointing people to head up government agencies that have a background in nothing more than running a successful horse organization into the ground

Bad jokes aside... as for the ones you mentioned... the whole point is to have people to round up research and help point out where to direct the resources in the government towards a particular goal.  You don't think the Mid East is deserving of any special attention?  The stimulus shouldn't be paid attention to?  Domestic violence is a little puzzling, I wasn't aware that had worsened much lately.

Considering the track record of car industry management over the past twenty years, maybe it's a good thing the Car Czar's have no industry experience.

I thought that said "Czar Czar."  That's what we need to keep track of all the other Czars.
:D

I don't like the term "czar" anyway.  It sounds oafish.

Well Bush(W.) actually had more czar jobs than Obama so I take my comment back. The "czar jobs" really exploded under Bush(w.) administration though and carried over to the Obama administration. Why do we need this many cazrs?

Given the government's track record of managing vehicle production programs like the F-22, V-22 Osprey, Air Force Tanker Replacement, and the Presidential Helicopter Replacement, I'm not sure what secret sauce the government can bring to the picture.

But the auto companies took government money, so they have no justification to carp about Uncle Sam butting in...

Too soon... :)

I was wondering if there was a Czar for children's playthings.  He'd have to be called "Russell", though.

..enough Toy Czar Russ advertising, though.

"These aren't the czars that you looking for..."

"These aren't the czars that I'm looking for."

"Move along.'

"What are you waiting for? Move along."

Too bad, that jedi mind tricks, don't work on Glenn Beck.

Boy, that sure is a surprise.  I had better go tell the Air Force, since they are still running flight from here to there (and there to here) every day.

One of the fascists on the mall today declared, "The word czar doesn't appear anywhere in the Constitution!"  NosheeshSherlock!

"Assault rifle" doesn't show up much in that document either.

Anyway, "czar" is an informal title, and Nixon and Reagan liked to use it too.

Neither does the Internet, Television, or Radio.

One of my favorite "make them think" replies that the framers of the Constitution never intended for Semiautomatic Rifles to be included in the Second Ammendment, is that they also never intended for the First Ammendment "Freedom Of The Press" to include anything other then ink on paper.

Personally, I still feel it is included, under the "Freedom of Speech" clause if nothing else.  But it is a good way to get people to actually think.

However, it can be argued that the Czar's fall under the same clause of the Constitution that the Presidential Cabinet does.  Article 2 Section 2 states:

"...shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments."

And it can be argued that a Czar is also a "Public Minister", just like the Secretary of the Treasury is.

Actually, they are advicers, admistrators. If something comes up, they try to figure out the best sollution possible.

Defintion of the word czar:

1. Czar is the most common form in American usage and the one nearly always employed in the extended senses "any tyrant" or informally, "one in authority." But tsar is preferred by most scholars of Slavic studies as a more accurate transliteration of the Russian and is often found in scholarly writing with reference to one of the Russian emperors.

A male monarch or emperor, especially one of the emperors who ruled Russia until the revolution of 1917.
2. A person having great power; an autocrat

3. Informal An appointed official having special powers to regulate or supervise an activity.

Defintion of the word, dumbass:

See Glenn Beck.

He can't even spell oligarchy, correctly.

There's a c in oligarchy, dumbass.
