Issue 3, an issue that would bring a casino to 4 major cities...has passed.

Well...it should since 3 of the 4 cities are in the top-10 Poorest City rankings.

That should squeeze the last few dollars from anyone's pockets.  It's not going to appeal to people from out of state (hmmm... fly to Ohio or Vegas?) so it's just redistribution of money from the poorest to the richest.  I guess it's voluntary though.

Most of the surrounding states already have casinos to which many Ohioans traveled.  I know Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Indiana all have casinos.  Not sure about Kentucky or Michigan.  Pennsylvania does not allow table games such as poker or blackjack, but WV and Indiana do.
At the very least it'll give some people some more jobs (such as they are).  Cocktail waitresses, maintenance staff, janitorial and security are all at least minimum wage earners.

Pennsylvania law states that anyone employed by a Pennsylvania casino cannot gamble in any Pennsylvania casino.  So it may attract a few out-of-state players.  Not everyone can hop on a plane to Vegas on a whim, and I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing to have the proposition pass.  Last time they tried it on the ballot (a year ago) they were concerned about out-of-state owners of the casinos being excluded somehow from paying state taxes (Ohio).  Truthfully, I did not pay attention to how the proposition was worded on this ballot since I've since moved out of the state of Ohio.

Yeah, nice, you notice where the put the Casinos?  Not anywhere near the homes of the Casino owners, that is for sure.  Casinos are a two edged sword, the trick is seeing to it that the money filters out in more than just minimum wage jobs to the locals.

In Cleveland, they're planning to put it by the Flats by Tower City.

And oddly enough...I watched "Casino Royale" with Peter Sellers and David Niven on Election Day!

Considering how gambling and organized crime tend to go hand-in-hand, I'm not sure if this is such a good idea for such a poor area.
