Subject: Why do people love Glenn Beck, so much?

Seriously?

Subject: Re: Why do people love Glenn Beck, so much?

Seriously?  Because Americans are angry, frightened, and fed up.  Glenn Beck helps them direct their blame and their ire.  Since Beck works for the very forces that are making people scared and frustrated, Beck helps steer these very real fears away from their causes and towards strawmen such as "progressives" and "socialism."

It works.  Beck fans aren't so dumb they don't know there's something dangerously sick about American polity, but they're not smart enough to see that Beck works for the problem, not the solution.

I wasn't going to mention him in my earlier post, but I think the similarities are remarkable in how they obtain power.

And that's what scares me.

It's not that Glenn Beck is that popular.  It's just that his fans are loud.

The same could be said for Limbaugh and Ron Paul.

Because Beck is not part of either the Republican or Democratic party thats why he's popular.

Because he keeps the debate the power of the government versus the power of the people.  All his pedantic rants fail to mention the power of corporations, and that's where the real power is.  Worry about the ulcer, not about the steak knife plunged between your shoulder blades.

;D  Want to run that one by me again.  He has said he speaks for the majority of Republicans.  Besides no sane democrat listens to him except for wanting an glimpse into Right-Wing radicalism.

Beck probably speak for the majority of Republicans who want smaller government  and lower taxes not the big spending Republican Party of the Bush(W.)era. Beside Beck is a "libertarian" anyway.

Beck isn't really a libertarian.  He definitely leans further right than most Republicans on economic issues, but he wasn't exactly condemning of the Patriot Act.  If I'm not mistaken, he supported the invasion of Iraq as well.

You might be able to classify Beck as a neolibertarian (neocon + libertarian), but he definitely supports larger government when it comes to things like the military.

Glenn Beck is not a libertarian!!!!

Beck is a fascist playing a populist angle, which helps every fascist cause as it gets a strangle hold on nation and culture.  That's what's going on here.

Who also sees no problem in violence against a government.  Who is also against any form of social progress and anti-woman and homophobic.  Beck is not a libertarian in the classic sense of the word.  If he were he wouldn't be so quick to demand that other people act to his liking.

Neolibertarians and fascists have a lot in common, actually.  A lot of people who call themselves libertarian are actually of this mindset.

The Tea Party types will often fall into this category, although they tend to have really conservative social views too.

Actually, I don't know exactly what a neolibertarian is, but whatever it is, I already don't like it.

Imagine a libertarian that loves war.  Basically, it's someone that is libertarian for most things but still gets a hard on for invading countries and building up the military.

And yeah, I tend to despise those people because they're raging hypocrites in how they distrust government except for the purpose of killing people.

..I was going to stick a smiley in there, but to be honest it's actually quite scary and sad rather than funny.

It's probably a term invented by the corporatarians.
