Dr. George Rekers, 61, one of the founding members of the powerful Christian Right lobbying group, was caught vacationing in Europe with a gay prostitute called "Lucien," age 20.

Sources reveal Lucien advertises his services exclusively on a gay escort site called Rentboy.com.

The term "rentboy" is a slang for male prostitute and the website is none too subtle about what's up.

Rekers denies he had sexual relations with Lucien and claims he only wanted to minister to the young man so as to encourage him get right with God and abstain from homosexual behavior.

The contract Dr. Rekers signed with Rentboy and Lucien has surfaced and suggests something a bit different.  The contract requires Lucien to spend no less the eight hours per day with Rekers, including two meals...and a sensual massage.  Lucien denies he did anything more for Rekers than spend time accompanying the good doctor on his European vacation...and give him massages with happy endings.

In his rhetoric, Dr. Rekers is a staunch opponent of the "gay lifestyle" and was especially adamant that gay couples must not be allowed to adopt children.  As one gay activist quipped, "Rekers doesn't think gay men should raise boys, just rent them."

The Family Research Council is trying to distance themselves from Dr. Rekers, but that's like Microsoft trying to distance itself from Bill Gates.  It's not going to work.  

What is interesting to me here that unlike other high-profile anti-gay ministers busted for soliciting gay prostitutes, Dr. Rekers wasn't cruising for quick and dirty sex.  Rekers seemed to want a gay relationship.  According to the Rentboy contract, he wanted Lucien's companionship more than sex.  Rekers might actually be gay and if he came out of the closet 40 years ago, maybe he would be happier today.  He's obviously a bright guy with a PhD in developmental psychology.  If our culture was more accepting of gay people, perhaps Rekers could be leading a happy life as a physician or a psychologist, instead of being a professional gay-basher with that awful National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH).  

I suspect Dr. Rekers won't be the last raging homophobe to get outed by his own gay desires.

Upon closer inspection, most proponents of orthodox or fundamentalist religions have a ton of skeletons in their closets.  Their dogma is usually a desperate form of overcompensation for their own shortcomings or personal feelings of self-loathing.

Heard it on the news.  These guys are just beautiful, they haven't quite got the fact the we are in the INFORMATION AGE.  Some time it is the age of TOO MUCH INFORMATION AGE, but there you have it.  ;)

These guys just make me sick. I could care less if someone is hetro, homo, bi, or even tri. What they do in the privacy of their own bedroom is their own business (just as long as it is with consenting adults). What I object to is the fact that they try to police what others do in private. It just screams of hypocrisy-which is something I can't stand!

Rekers looks like a gay version of the Marlboro Man.  That kind of 'stache went out fashion in about 1979!
