Haven't heard that song in decades-and I haven't seen that movie in just as long. They all look so young.

When I first heard that story, I went looking for it on the web.

I have lots of Russian friends and wanted to make sure none of them were on the list!  ;D

Reading the stories around these guys, it makes me think that the Russians finally realized that their sleeper agents had spent the past 20 years partying on the KG^H^HFSB's budget, and their handlers decided to finally cut them loose.  Lulz!

Good question!

"I wouldn't do that if I were you, boys!"

You know the scene where they try to escape from Biff and Chip (or whatever their names were), who were wearing pastels and sweaters around their necks.  Austin alerts Emmett about the Russian wristwatch.  Anyway, before they get ten yards from the Jeep, Biff and Chip where in front of them saying the above!

Someday, Dominion (but not today.)

She served a blue man in a dry season,
A cookie eater in the New York Sun,
Dreamers of sleepers and Red treason,
She dreams of rain and the history of the gun.

There's a lighthouse in the middle of Prussia,
A white house in Times Square,
She's living in JPEG for the sake of Russia,
A kino runner for the DDR.

And the 52 daughters of the Revolution,
Turn the gold to lulz.
Gift.  Nothing to lose.
On a plane to Moscow or a mobile home.

Sing, "Mother Russia,
Mother Russia,
Mother Russia, rain down..."

What a Russian spy might look like.

(With apologies to Andrew Eldrich and the Sisters of Mercy.  This parody is in the public domain.  Someone roll with it, please.)

^ If anything in the eighties needed a good parody, it was the Sisters of Mercy.  I know, I listened to the "First and Last and Always" album every day for a year!  They started to scare me when Jim Steinman showed up to produce "This Corrosion"!

Obviously, the one on the right.  Didn't you know that Sesame Street was a pinko commie conspiracy?

Nope, you're not gettin' outa that one.  This isn't some Bush-era "one state, two state, red state, blue state" kind of diplomacy.  No, sir, this is an 80s-style deal.  And in the 80s, the commies were into Red flags, Red Square, and red head.

Now that we're into the "I'd run counterintelligence against it" jokes, our very own Agent 86 doesn't appear to be confirming or denying whether he was the lucky guy CONTROL assigned to wear the cookie monster suit.  I can't wait for that one to be declassified.  Look at the background - was the secret authentication exchange really "Nuts 4 Nuts" / "C is 4 Cookie", and was the authentication merely verbal?  :)
