Who cares if he lost his job as CEO of BP? Heyward got a big fat package of benefits now that he is leaving BP. What do you get at a regular job when you get fired or layed-off? The boss tells you why you are being let go and you get your an unemployment check each week after you leave.

I would bet that this is just an out front move. Ten to one they will be sliding him some backdoor money as a "consultant"
