After 12 years, Canada is no longer in the UN Security Council.

Doh.

Guess the UN didn't need our 3 helicopters, 2 steak knives and row boat to protect the world.

Canada's wealth is in her natural resources.  That's the one to watch for the long term.  Technology is great but you to have raw materials to generate it and even more natural resources to run it.  In the end, the guy with the most natural resources gets to be the boss.  So just hang on to what you've got.  Your time will come.  Ours did...and went.

But, it's a pretty decent row boat. It has oars too. You...you can't even see the small holes on the side.
They painted it white last year too.

*shrugs*  Canada seems to be doing quite well for itself with or without any fancy UN privileges.

Lots of natural resources. The squeaky wheel (Quebec) has been silent for awhile. Less exports though (CDN dollar almost at par with US) but more Canadians going shopping to the US across the border.  The economy (recession) didn’t affect us as much as the USA esp. in the area of lending mortgages. We're doing alright I suppose.

When the Francophones gang up on the Anglophones, the Francophones lose.  You'd think they'd learn something in 250 years!
Well, they did get some concessions.  Now the barber out in Medicine Hat has to have a bilingual sign!

Which he might not even understand nor do his customers. :-\\
Hey...the sign might even read "I've only injured 17 people this month, a new record"

Funny thing is, the French never ran the place to begin with.  New France extended into present-day Saskatchewan.  Never got to Alberta.  Then the British took it all away from them in 1763.  That's what the British are good at: Taking things away from people!

France still has two islands off of Newfoundland, but once the ocean is all fished out, good luck offloading that real estate!
