You ever facepalmed so hard that...

http://i40.tinypic.com/abkqpi.gif

And when you recovered, you realized it was one of those moments where words just couldn't express the fail, and you just had to keep going until you found the right image macro?

Yeah, Sarah, you just failed so hard that even I wished those were brains.

Calm down people, it's only a tiny slip of the tongue.  Because the mass media delights in attacking Palin. If Clinton or Obama produced the same sort of response, obviously it would go unnoticed.  No one is allowed to say anything bad about Obama. Not allowed.

At least Palin wouldn’t ruin the country like Clinton did or Obama is doing.

Slip of the tongue? Ya think? I'm sure it couldn't be that she doesn't know the difference between North Korea & South Korea. After all, she is so fluent in foreign policy because Alaska is right next door to Russia.

So how did Clinton ruin the country? When he left office, we had a surplus. After 8 years of Bush, we had the biggest deficient in the history of this country and in two wars. Obama is only trying to clean up the mess that Bush left.

As for not saying anything "bad" about Obama, I have said many things "bad" about him-but it is about HOW he deals with the GOP and NOT that he is trying to "ruin" this country.

Because Clinton had an affair, that meant that he "ruined" the country.

All had affairs. I'm not condoning it but that is between them, their wives, & families. The last time I check, having an affair is NOT illegal and did not effect his ability to govern.

the Dow Jones Index in 1992 when Clinton took office: 3,255.99
when he left: 10,581.90
When George W left: 8,279.63
today: 11,187.28

we could be so lucky to have Clinton running things again... 8 years of Bush left the country poorer.  heck even Obama has seen the market gain substantially..

I'm sure that Palin slipped up, if you hear the whole talk, she does refer to the right half of Korea most of the time, despite her pitiful attempts to blame the current administration every chance she gets.

Well in the 90's we had an internet boom and when Clinton left, the internet boom was about to go bust when Enron shut its doors.
And in 2007-2008 we had a Housing crash with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Bush had that Hoover state of frame with Wall Street, I think Hoover came and went with the worst market loss ever and FDR came and turned things around.

Bill the gigolo Clinton slept around all over the place. Monica was just one of his floosies. Disgusting man.

Look...everyone talks about how Clinton was in office for blowjobs and such, but his presidency was a form of Socialism. Clinton wanted Healthcare, he wanted Green Energy, he wanted the whole nine yards! And Clinton did want to declare war in Iraq again...but didn't because it would tarnish his administration!

Politics is just a Cat and Mouse game, if you're a Liberal you're the mouse and the Conservatives are the cat and if you're Conservative it's vice-versa.

Don't forget Eisenhower, and we must remember that with Jefferson it was rape.

Glenn Beck believes in four insane things before breakfast

Apparently this gaffe was the most sane thing said during the entire interview segment.  Since it was Glenn Beck, the show was filled with insane theories about China firing missiles from the US shore to display their superiority over the US, despite his evidence having been shown to be a jet plane contrail weeks ago. None of which Sarah Palin disagreed with, because, well, she doesn't want to disappoint her base.

All sorts of people in this country and others believe outrageous and stupid things.  You would not believe the number of people that believe in anything from claiming that the US government did 9/11 to vapor trails.

Glen Beck is not a politician, he does not have to answer to a constituancy.  He is not elected nor does he hold any kind of government position.  So he is free to believe anything he wants.  He may believe the trails are a Chinese missile, that the moon is made out of cheese, or that the CIA and Mafia together with the Military Industrial Comples assasinated JFK.  That does not matter to me.  I make up my own mind in what to believe, I do not take it on the word of anybody.

yes, well that's all fine and good, but not everyone is a potential US President candidate.  When a potential President believes these things and agrees with them, that's when I begin to get a bit nervous and think people should be paying more attention to them.

Don't forget Eisenhower, and we must remember that with Jefferson it was rape.

In Jefferson's time it wasn't "rape" because Sally Hemmings was his property.  So were their offspring.  It was standard practice among slave masters.  If you had the property and the privilege you you buy, sell, and screw slaves as you pleased.

If your reaction to the above statements are anger and disgust...you react correctly.

On the other hand, if Sally Hemmings was anywhere near as stupid and obnoxious as Sarah Palin, TJ wouldn't have wasted his time with her.

The list Catwoman compiled are only the presidents who got famous for having "mistresses."  The mistress for a man of means was not merely overlooked, but expected.  In spite of marriage vows and adultery laws, men could have extramarital sex, as long as they were gentlemanly and showed a modicum of discretion about it.  That's still how it goes in plenty of other countries, such as France.  Clinton was trashy about his philandering...and he was a Democrat.  Newt Gingrich was up to the same sh*t and the whole Palin family is Jerry Springer Show material.  However, they're Republicans.  Now, when the Republicans tried to throw Clinton out of office for what he did, his popularity went way up and the measure itself failed.  The ends for Newt & co. were not so important as the means.  They wanted to district the country and gum up the works in order to make government ineffective.  They'll do the same thing to Obama starting in January.

One caveat about extramarital sex -- if men got caught it was a wink and a nod.  If women got caught, it was social banishment.  The old Double Standard, you know.

Your first two statements are correct.  Your second three statements are utterly mistaken.
1.  If any perceived "liberal" referred to the North Koreans as our allies, it would become a permanent reference point for the Right.
2. People say bad things about Obama all the time, even on this board, even me.
3. Palin is incapable of of being President.  If she won the office, she would be steered entirely by regent advisors as were monarchs who were children or idiots.

The best advice about Beck and Palin.....

Paul Anka: To stop those monsters 1-2-3,
Here's a fresh new way that's trouble-free,
It's got Paul Anka's guarantee...
Lisa: Guarantee void in Tennessee.

Both: Just don't look! Just don't look!

But a would-be Presidential candidate should have the ovaries to say "Sir, that's just not correct."  (Or the brains to not appear on a show where the host is within one standard deviation of Alex Jones' paranoiac ramblings.)

There are plenty of Republicans who would make for viable Presidential candidates.  The problem for the Republican party is that as long as Palin remains in the spotlight, none of them will ever get the nomination.

The problem for the voters is that after seeing her repeatedly make these gaffes ("In what respect?", "I read them all!", looking at notes written on her hands for talking points as simple as "tax cuts"), we're not seeing them as gaffes.  They're part of a pattern.  And here's what that pattern looks like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww

That's what happens when you get a beauty queen who may know everything there is to know about fashion, popularity, makeup, and celebrity status, but who's utterly ignorant about geography, and you hit her with a question about a random poll, and she finds herself able to do only what she's trained to do: flail wildly at making sure she hits all the talking points like what she personally believes about the question, and about our education, like such as in South Africa, and the Iraq, everywhere, like such as.

Sound familiar?

You do the math.

So, yes, this is a gaffe - but did she momentarily have a brainfart and say "North" when she meant "South"?  Or does she honestly not know, and flubbed the lines her handlers gave her, because "North Korea" is the nation more-frequently mentioned in the press?  I don't know.  The fact that we no longer know that it was just a brainfart makes her nonviable as a candidate.

a. IQ tests are CRAP.  I consistently score in the, ahem, sub-genius range, yet I can barely handle basic algebra, speaking of "you do the math."  Heck, after a couple of decades, I doubt I remember how to do the most elementary algebraic equations and don't quiz me or I'll cry like a four-year-old on the wrong side of a sugar high.

b.

i. I DO think she said "North" when she meant "South," and I STILL think she's dumber 'n a bag o' doorknobs.
ii. In the case of delicate brinkmanship with a nuclear nation run by a madman, we cannot afford a president who has "brainfarts."

It doesn't matter whether this one was a gaffe or borne out of genuine ignorance; Palin's demonstrated ignorance on geopolitics and economics damn near every time she was interviewed.

That's why "If Obama said..." is not a valid argument.  Love him or hate him, he's no dummy.

Arthur Miller was on to a great truth in American psychology with "Death of a Salesman."  Sarah Palin is bone-stupid but she's a "likable sort of person."  Americans like that.  I kinda like her too.  I just don't want her in charge of anything.  Reagan was a likable sort of person.  I kinda liked him too...but I was terrified he was POTUS in the 1980s, rather than his more suited station in life: Has-been b-movie actor.

Thus, I encourage one and all to watch Sarah Palin's Alaska and send fan letters.  It might be cynical, but if your cynicism can keep her in show biz and away from the levers of power, it serves a greater good!

Let's not overlook the fact that she doesn't know what the word "sanction" means....

People have tried to say that she meant to say "South" in that sentence too, but "We're not having a lot of faith that the White House is going to come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that South Korea is going to do" just doesn't make sense.  Sounds more like "sanction" was the "word of the day" on her calendar and she decided to use it :D

And, on another note, anyone else hear her later try to justify Willow's little homophobic tirade on Facebook by pulling out the "Trigg" card again (when it actually had NOTHING to do with him)?  Also saying the media needs to leave her family alone?  Sorry, YOU put the family out there when YOU decided to do a TV show....maybe you should teach your daughter not to use derogatory slurs!!!

Thanks for catching what we all seem to have missed.

Sanction's one of those weird words that's it's own antonym.  One can ask the UN to invoke sanctions against North Korea for being a dick, or one can sanction South Korea's act of returning fire against North Korean artillery positions, and be self-consistent.

Palin managed to get it wrong in just about every way possible.  If an actual diplomat had said it, it would mean "SK is going to flatten NK, and we don't think Obama will approve" :)
