Subject: GA Legislator Wants to Investigate Miscarriages

Written By: danootaandme on 02/21/11 at 7:31 am

This guy is dim on a good day, just when you thought he couldn't go any farther...

"Franklin wants to create a Uterus Police to investigate miscarriages, and requires that any time a miscarriage occurs, whether in a hospital or without medical assistance, it must be reported and a fetal death certificate issued. If the cause of death is unknown, it must be investigated. If the woman can't tell how it happened, than those Uterus Police can ask family members and friends how it happened. Hospitals are required to keep records of anyone who has a spontaneous abortion(miscarriage) and report it."

Yup-let's make government just small enough to fit into a woman's uterus.

I guess it would create tons of new jobs though, and that's what the tea baggers claimed they were going to do... I guess their supporters should have demanded to know what kind of jobs.  Kind of like morality police in Saudi Arabia. I hope they pass a bill requiring petticoats in public next, or mandatory chastity belts for single women.

Besides all the obvious health and safety concerns AND the psychological trauma of treating a woman who's just lost a pregnancy as a homicide suspect...okay we're clear on that.

Who the hell is going to pay for all this new BUI (Bureau of Uterine Investigation)?  You think Obama's health care plan is expensive, wait'll you see the bill for the the fetus beat!

Heck, Mr. Franklin's legislation doesn't go far enough.  A woman should be subject to investigation EVERY time she has her period.  She MIGHT expel a fertilized ova.  This does happen from time to time without the woman even knowing it, and in that case she's up on an involuntary manslaughter rap.

Sounds like another case of pro-life posturing.  I doubt Franklin expects the bill to go anywhere.  These days you can never be too pro-life or too rich!

And the Republican Party wonders why it continues to slide into electoral irrelevance.

(The only good thing is that - as a capitalist by choice, but a corporatist by compromise - the Democrats have filled the void the Republican party once held :)

Would that count as a miscarriage of justice?
