I'm no Texas fisherman, but I say if you're willing to shove your arm down a six-foot catfish's throat you've earned your catch!

Call me crazy, but I don't see this as a REAL danger to the catfish population....there can't be THAT many people stupid I mean, "skilled" enough to do this on such a large scale that it would truly affect the numbers....

I am really for this law. They should have to catch fish just like everyone else-with sticks of dynamite.

How's that small government working out of ya?

No, that's drinking Budweiser.  You know, (Emphatically) close to water.

You have that joke over there, too?

..I suppose a canoe is pretty close to a punt for making the joke work :)

The catfish don't share the waters with alligators, do they?

Sure they do.  Down around the Gulf coast.  A 1.5 m catfish would be a tasty feast for alligators.  That's probably one reason the catfish like their little caves in the riverbank and why I say it takes a lotta balls to go in after them.  I would think a giant catfish could drag a person under water long enough to drown him.

They had an article in one of the local zines a while back about noodling catfish. Personally I think you'd have to be batsh!t insane to do that.

However, not only is it legal in Oklahoma but they actually have a national noodling tournament there.

YEE-HAW!  :D
