Subject: Michelle Bachmann's knowledge of American history is worse than Palin

Written By: ChuckyG on 06/23/11 at 9:36 am

Michele Bachmann's Holy War

She kicked off her unofficial presidential campaign in New Hampshire, by mistakenly declaring it the birthplace of the American Revolution. "It's your state that fired the shot that was heard around the world!" she gushed. "You are the state of Lexington and Concord, you started the battle for liberty right here in your backyard."

why was Palin mocked for her mis-statements but Bachmann given a pass?

The prospect of Michele Bachmann becoming President of the United States downright scares me. If you think things are bad now...I don't even want to think about this country under a Bachmann administration. Where were these tea party idiots during the George W. Bush administration (largest expansion of government in history)?

Bachmann is nervous and paranoid.  If she got the nomination she'd crack under the savagery of a presidential campaign.

My guess is that all the other contenders could crack her in the first debate for the GOP, and if she somehow got the nom, Obama would very politely make mince meat out of her, or his VIP nom would do the same.  But if she is in the VT GOP primary, I'll vote for her.

Where is Richard Nixon when we need him? (I can't believe I'm saying that)

From that link:
At the time of the alleged attempted kidnapping, Bachmann was a state senator from Minnesota and had already started to campaign against LGBT rights. She had previously been caught hiding in the bushes of a gay rights event.

Or hell, even Jerry Ford. Jerry might've not been the brightest light but he was at least a decent man, wasn't insane, and was a pretty reasonable, good hearted President. I mean, he might've not have been a genius, but he was also no Palin.

The last reasonable, sane Republican Presidential candidate lost in 1996.

After her presidential campaign kickoff, Bachmann stepped into a cultural joke mindfield by comparing herself to John Wayne of Waterloo, Iowa. The only John Wayne that ever lived in Waterloo was the serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

Bachmann explained that John Quincy Adams, as a young boy, "tirelessly worked throughout his life to make sure that we did in fact one day eradicate slavery...."

..."He wasn’t one of the Founding Fathers," Stephanopoulos said.

..."Well, John Quincy Adams most certainly was a part of the Revolutionary War era. He was a young boy but he was actively involved," Bachmann said.

JQA was nine when the American Revolution broke out.  But he did indeed fight against slavery throughout his career.  He did object to the Missouri compromise as James Monroe's Secretary of State.  He was also the defense attorney for the United States v.  The Amistad Africans while serving in the Massachusetts legislature in 1843.  I have to say the American Right today would have sided with John C. Calhoun on slavery -- It's good for free enterprise, good for the Republic, and the federal government should keep its nose out of it.

John Quincy, "Old Man Eloquent" is one of my favorite presidents.  His almost single handed destruction of the "Gag Rule" was magnificent.  He went from the Senate to the Presidency to the House and had the stroke that killed him at his desk on the floor of the house..  Like his father, he never took any political gifts, the only gift he did take after heated persuasion, was the Mendi Bible , given to him by the men of the Amistad.  They believe he was the last living person in Congress who knew all of the founders.

I think Bachmann should think of what she says first instead of making repeated gaffes. I mean you are running for the highest office in the land. She is starting to make herself look bad with the repeated gaffes.

I wish I'd thought of this for a bumper sticker in 2000:

"John Quincy Adams: the only son of a president to serve as president.
Let's keep it that way!"
