Subject: First Billboard chart of 2010!

Written By: Marty McFly on 01/01/10 at 10:18 am

TiK ToK - Ke$ha
Lyaz - Replay
Bad Romance - Lady Gaga
Fireflies - Owl City
Empire State Of Mind - Jay-Z + Alicia Keys
Whatcha Say - Jason Derulo
Down - Jay Sean ft lil wayne
Party in the USA - Miley Cyrus
Sexy Chick - David Guetta w/Akon

I like about half of these. :) Granted it's basically holdovers from last year and for the next couple months it will probably be singles off '09 cds, but music is definitely going in a better direction. Sure there's a few hip hop leftovers, but just as much melodic or synthy stuff with the strong 80s influence. Even if "Party in the USA" is corny I love it (that's even kinda retro too).

Party In The USA was ok at first, but now over played.

I agree it's a catchy song but I got a bit tired of it.

Sexy Chick was a #1 hit here in Canada, and it was one of two dance songs to crack the Canadian Top 40 in 2009 that used samples from 80s music.

And who says the 80s is dead 8)

I think the 2010s' music will be better than last decade's music.

Hey, we live we learn, right?

I'm hoping the synthy music dies down in a couple of months, it's not my thing ! I must say, Party in the USA is catchy though!

I was wondering why that Jason DeRulo song was popular. I like "Down" and "Fireflies" because its different at least. Never heard of the David Guetta, Lyaz, Miley Cyrus, and Ke$ha songs though.

I don't care for some of the songs on there like Replay or Down, that use the autotune with the techno synth beat. All those songs sound the same to me and its getting old. Other than that, I like Ke$ha, Lady GaGa, and Owl City.

;D

"Fireflies", "Sexy Chick" and "Empire State Of Mind" get played quite a bit on local Top 40 Radio here, along with Sean Kingston's "Replay" and Britney's "3" :P
