No, she won't.  She is 73 suffering from dementia, and has terminal leukemia.  It is just a matter of time.  :\'(

If I didn't read it correctly, I could've sworn they named a train station after her.

Me three.

Sad news about Etta.  I heard she was sick, but I didn't know she was so bad off.

Really, her passing will be the end of an era (pre-Motown R&B singers with some jazz influence). Lena Horne passed away last year. That means the Motown generation (Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick) is next in line. And the current crop of talent has little inspiration from this era of R&B that it's sad how much the world has changed musically since her era. :(

Etta James died today, less than a week shy of her 74th birthday. :(

It is a sad week for music: last Tuesday legendary blues singer Johnny Otis died, the man who discovered Etta James when she was just 14 years old.

Sad.  :(

Thanks to Flo Rida my daughter knows who Etta James is.  On his recent song he samples Etta James so it was the perfect opportunity to sit down with Megan and watch and listen to her music.
