A few good ones rocking my iPod ...

M83 - Midnight City
Electropop band from France.  This song is new in the UK chart at #51
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX3k_QDnzHE

Big Wreck - Albatross
American band fronted by Canadian singer Ian Thornley, best remembered for their 1997 single 'The Oaf'.  They have reformed, and this is their latest single, new in the Canadian chart at #99
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR-KX3fzKyM

Martin Solveig featuring Dragonette and Idoling! - Big in Japan
The 4th single from Solveig's album 'Smash'.  This song was released in October of 2011, where it was already a Top 40 hit in Belgium.  It's slowly rising in North America, currently at #51 in Canada

Mia Martina - Burning
I am sold on that awesome saxophone. This was released in 2011, but has risen to #30 in Canada.  I think I have found my #1 of 2012 (so far)

Midnight City is a great one.

It's even better live on this Jimmy Fallon performance, the sax at the end is not mixed down as far in the background.

This one is technically not new, as it already reached #11 in Canada back in April of 2011, but it has recently been released for the European Market where it debuted last week at #2 in the UK chart (This week dropping to #5).  It is a fantastic cover/sample of the 1987 song 'Alone' by Heart

Alyssa Reid featuring Jump Smokers - Along Again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJZX_fYV3ZI

It's appearance in the UK chart, may have prompted interest in the original, as 'Alone' by Heart has currently-re-entered the UK chart at #94

This song will be HUGE in the coming months.  It has the female-oriented teen pop sound that is all the rage right now.

I don't really like this song, but its the sound that is hot right now.

This song is already huge in Canada.  It reached #1 here back in early February.  Carly Rae Jepsen placed 3rd in the 5th season of Canadian Idol, and with this song, she is the first conestant from Canadian Idol to have a hit outside of Canada.  It is her 4th hit here

I saw this band at Rockfest on Saturday and I really liked them. This song has been getting a lot of airplay on the local rock station.

And while we're on the subject of Rockfest: Hey, Jason...can you Canadians do the world a favor and stuff Theory Of A Deadman back into whatever igloo they crawled out of? They were like Nickelback if they had gotten rid of Chad Kroger and replaced him with The Situation from Jersey Shore.  8-P

Theory of A Deadman are not as popular as they once were.  Lead singer Tyler Connolly does look like he belongs on the Jersey Shore lol

Warning: You may have difficulty figuring out which year you're in when you listen to some of these songs.

Songs from artist I've been addicted to for over the past week...

Recently discovered Onra and I'm officially addicted to his music. I'm aware that the following came out in 2010, but I heard it for the first time this year so...:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA0CTDEggzs&list=FLYD-MWI089MK8qfIoiEahlw&index=67&feature=plpp_video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU9kkxcnW6U

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emexnwiGhhI&feature=relmfu

Some of his more recent stuff from 2012:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YikYYdTaa2U&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRtN7NRFiZU&feature=relmfu

Azealia Banks has quickly become a fave! She reminds me of Missy Elliot and a bit of Lauryn Hill. My top 3 fave songs from her right now:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlWRhnYgWcc&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAmaaW4d5n0&feature=related

Also a fan of Jessie Ware. Just discovered her a few days ago, but was unaware she already had a few hits in the UK (I'm out here in the US). I'd love to see her get successful over here. She reminds me of Sade and Annie Lennox:

Ellie Goulding - Lights
Maroon 5 - Payphone
No Doubt - Settle Down
Alanis Morisette - Guardian
