Subject: Why are all new music videos too sharp/grayish?

Is it me or the 80s videos were more variable and most of them were colorful? Nowadays no one does videos like that -- with soft, vivid colors:

Nowadays all videos are HD but look grayish and subdued. And most of them are too sharp. The few colorful ones are not soft in appearance, they're in-your-face sharp. The same goes for most movies; they look cold, like shot on a rainy day. :) Am I the only one noticing this trend of too sharp videos?

Most music videos nowadays suck and are average at best.
