Apparently the emo subculture is under attack in Iraq.

A statement from one of the Holy Warriors over there reads:

"We warn in the strongest terms to every male and female debauchee," the Shiite militia hit list says. "If you do not stop this dirty act within four days, then the punishment of God will fall on you at the hands of Mujahideen."

This came up a few times on reddit this week, and so far it's just one unconfirmed source with no outside verification... so I wouldn't exactly give it a ton of weight just yet.

In a response to questions on his website on Saturday, Moqtada al-Sadr, a Shi'ite cleric whose followers dominate Sadr City, described "emo" youths as "crazy and fools", but said they should be dealt with only through the law.

"They are a plague on Muslim society, and those responsible should eliminate them through legal means," he said.
