Subject: Skrillex

What do you guys think of Skrillex? I think he's alright but vastly overrated, he's immensely popular even though he's never charted a hit. I went to a music festival and people lined up 4 HOURS to see his gig!  :o

These days I'd consider a "hit" at least Top 20 but I guess I could kinda make an exception since a lot of those songs are huge on YouTube and very well known.

A hit is anything in the Hot 100

Within just the US is where I was headed with that one.  It's commonly said that if a song charts in the US, but does not make the Top 40, it's not considered a hit.  No matter where a song charts, it is still a hit.  Even songs in a bubbling under chart, such as positions 76-100 in the UK chart, even the former US Bubbling under chart, which covered positions 101-125

The thing is FM pop radio generally only plays the top 40 stuff, so the stuff in the latter half of the top 100 is much less widely heard unless it has big crossover appeal.

(big table that I would describe as "a target-rich environment")

I think I've got one for everything there, but it's getting late, and right now I'm just chillin' in Kyoto Grand, with mah man Skrillz...

The funny thing is that I was listening to Bassnectar when I hit the boards tonight, so both this thread (and the dubstep thread) are relevant to my interests.  Hard to belive it's been almost exactly one year since I stumbled onto the stuff via PMVs and found a worthy successor to EBM.  What can I say?  I needed change...

That's what I assumed you meant. I was just asking to make sure.
