Subject: Lorde's Ascent Continues

Written By: LyricBoy on 11/25/13 at 8:08 pm

The onslaught of New Zealand's Lorde is proceeding without relent.

Glamour Mag has named her the Sexiest Singer Alive for 2013.

And her latest recording, "Team" is getting increasing airplay in the states.  I'm hearing it more and more in the Cleveland and Picksburgh market.  "Team" features her laconic vocal style and unusual melodies.

Her new song Team, reminds of another song by a band called The Naked and Famous, who are also from New Zealand.

Hmm. I looked into this a bit and it seems the last big New Zealand song in the United States was Swing by Savage. That song was included on Now That's What I Call Music 29, and in the film Knocked Up and certified platinum - but that was back in 2008.

The Naked and Famous are from NZ, and they had two hit songs in 2011.

We live in cities you'll never see on screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run free
Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know we're on each other's team

I'm kind of over gettin' told to "throw my hands up in the air"
So there.

I also don't mind the quirky Kimbra. She is the singer who partnered Gotye in his world hit (Somebody That I Used to Know).

Oh yes indeed.  If I were having a party at my place and she were in town, Kimbra could crash it.  :P

That's okay ... but be careful ... Kiwi's shouldn't be allowed to breed!

Considering Lorde and Kimbra are the only two NZ artists recently to crack the US Hot 100, I'd say no.

I'll bet that the guys behind Split ENZ and Crowded House are rooting for these two lasses.  8)

I just watched her performance from the VH1 "You Oughtta Know" concert.

She dances not unlike Elaine Benes from Seinfeld.  :-X

Lord.  The "e" is silent.
