Subject: Transformers topple Mrs Brown's Boys from UK box office

Transformers: Age of Extinction has topped the UK box office with £11.7m in its week of release, knocking Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie off the top spot.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is currently at number two, moving up two places from last week with takings of £7.7m.

Teen drama The Fault in Our Stars is at four with £558,626 while Begin Again is fifth with £456,438.

The much-anticipated Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is expected to boost this weekend's box office after its release.

Starring Andy Serkis and Gary Oldman and directed by Cloverfield's Matt Reeves, it has already had positive reviews and has trounced Transformers at the US box office.

Michael Bay's Transformers movie, the fourth in the series, has a cast led by Mark Wahlberg. It has received generally poor reviews from critics.

Maleficent, Disney's take on Sleeping Beauty starring Angelina Jolie, has the largest overall takings in the top 10 UK films with £17.9m after seven weeks in the chart. It is followed by Undercover cop comedy 22 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, with £17.4m after six weeks.

Maleficent is at number eight in the UK weekly chart with a haul of £312,747 while 22 Jump Street is at six with £416,025.

Boyhood, Richard Linklater's real-time drama starring Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane and Ethan Hawke, made its debut at number seven with £322,834.

Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon's comedy Tammy - about a fast food worker who gets fired and takes her hard-drinking grandmother on a road trip - was at nine with £245,824 despite lukewarm reviews.

Chef, directed by and starring Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson and Dustin Hoffman was at 10 with £77,558. Favreau also produced the comedy, which has failed to attract large audiences despite its A-List cast.
