Subject: The end of bubblegum?

Written By: winteriscoming on 11/04/14 at 5:50 am

Doesn't it seem like chewing gum is going out of style? In the 90s I remember tons of gum commercials, it seemed like they were even more common than car commercials! I read that gum sales declined considerably between 2009 and 2013 which surprised me because it seems like even in the '00s gum was not as big a thing as it was in the '90s and before that.

Do you think chewing gum and blowing bubbles is viewed as tacky now?

Girls chewing gum isn't really seen as sexy anymore.

Yes it has diminished. I remember at school all chewing gum put under the tables which I think is gross.

I agree that it's gross to do that. 8-P

I definitely remember the times when you'd find gum hidden under your desk or seat.  :P

Do they still make that gum that squirts juice when you bite into it?

My buddies had a disparaging name for that product.  ;D

I was just joking.

I was remembering the Seinfeld episode where the one character "had a gum guy" and out of guilt, George bought like $1000 worth of gum.  ;D

I have not seen any gum that does that, but I do remember the Gushers candy that squirted juice when you bit into it. Not sure if that's still being produced.

No, not anymore, I think you're referring to Freshen-Up which came in different flavors such as Cinnamon, Mint, Spearmint & Bubblegum.

How is chewing gum sexy?  :o It never was to begin with. It looks the same no matter what.

Yes it has diminished. I remember at school all chewing gum put under the tables which I think is gross.

Don't forget the drinking fountains!

I vaguely remember a type of gum I had once when I was a kid. It was mint flavored and had some kind of gel in the middle. I don't know the name of it, only that I got it trick or treating that one time.

I'm pretty sure I haven't come across it. I mean, there are plenty of bubble gum products I've seen in stores over time, but this one doesn't ring a bell.
