Subject: BBC Radio 1 rapped for Foo Fighters swearing

Written By: Philip Eno on 02/03/15 at 4:54 am

Radio 1 has been censured by media watchdog Ofcom over a Foo Fighters track containing two swear words played on Nick Grimshaw's breakfast show.

The BBC station was adjudged to have breached Ofcom's broadcasting code because "it was particularly likely that children were listening".

The live session recording of Something From Nothing was originally broadcast shortly after 20:00 on 5 November 2014.

It was then repeated the following morning at 07:55.

Ofcom acknowledged that an apology was broadcast shortly after the incident but found the station in breach of Rule 1.14 of its broadcasting code.

The BBC said it was "highly unusual" for the offensive language not to be flagged up and that Radio 1 staff had subsequently been reminded of the importance of following compliance procedures.
