Subject: Halloween "recalibration" by Saw sequel writers (Pacific Rim script doctors)

Charles Manson isn't the only deranged killer who's back on the market. So is Michael Myers.

According to THR, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (writers of Saw V - VII, Piranha 3DD, Feast, The Collector, and The Collection; script doctors on Pacific Rim) have been hired by Malek Akkad (and probably the Weinsteins) to write the next Halloween movie.

Here's what's confirmed:

No connection to Rob Zombie (Thank God!)

Not in 3D

Not a remake or reboot
They're calling it a "recalibration"

My best guess is that it'll be a direct/alternate sequel to the original(s). There's really not much else they can do with Halloween: Continue Rob Zombie's mess, another remake, go back and do a direct sequel to the last good (or decent) Halloween (even though H20's ending was perfect and definite), or do a direct sequel to the original.

A direct sequel solves the Rob Zombie dilemma without doing another remake or reboot. Following from H20 could potentially ruin the ending, like Resurrection did. Only fans seem to remember the Thorn storyline from Halloween 6. Halloween 4-6 are no longer canon.

I could see it being a simple direct sequel or standalone without the baggage the series has accumulated.

I've watched all of the Halloween films so far. Was a huge fan since I was 9.

I've watched most of them myself.

I have only been the very first one (by John Carpenter), and I am sticking to it!

I like the movie too, but there's no Michael in the movie.  :\'(  :\'(
