Subject: The most memorable song of 2010-2014?

Written By: winteriscoming on 02/19/15 at 1:36 pm

I think if I had to pick one, it would be Call Me Maybe.  ;D It's such a perfect, classic pop song, almost like the "Take on Me" of the 2010s.

"Party Rock Anthem", "Somebody I Used to Know" and "Gangnam Style" were also huge, along with a bunch of Katy Perry and Rihanna songs but I think they'll be forgotten faster. Hell I'd say they're already somewhat forgotten.

I don't like any of those songs. They'll all probably be on "Worst Songs of the 2010s" lists in 2019 or so. I'd actually say "Love the Way You Lie" by Eminem, "Nothin' On You" and "Airplanes" by B.o.B., "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele, "Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj, "Lights" by Ellie Goulding, "Radioactive" byh Imagine Dragons, and "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. All of these are classier and, in my world, the most memorable songs of the first half of the 2010s.

"Stay with Me" is a song by English recording artist Sam Smith from his debut studio album In the Lonely Hour (2014). It was released in the United Kingdom as a digital download on 18 May 2014. "Stay with Me" is a gospel-inspired ballad that details the protagonist pleading with his one-night stand not to leave him. The song was written by Smith, James Napier, and William Phillips, with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne also receiving co-writer credits due to the song's similarity to Petty's single "I Won't Back Down".

The song has become Smith's most successful single to date, peaking at number one in the UK Singles Chart (becoming his third chart-topper there, second as a solo artist), topping the charts in Canada and New Zealand, and reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It has also reached top 10 status in over twelve countries worldwide, becoming his most successful single to date. In February 2015, "Stay with Me" won the Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

"Somebody That I Used To Know" immediate came to mind

BTW, I'm already starting to feel a little nostalgic about early 2010s electropop....which is weird because I hated it at the time. I never thought I'd say this in a million years but, I kinda miss Kesha  :-[

I miss that kind of pop!! Electro pop is kinda boring now. Miss the 2009-2012 sound

Tik Tok was 2009.  If you are going to go with a Ke$ha song I would say "Take It Off" or "We R Who We R."

I would say probably the most memorable would be something like Party Rock Anthem.

Blurred Lines! It's still super catchy to this day. I still see people dancing to it and humming it when it gets played at grocery stores.  ;D

It peaked in 2010 though. In fact, it was #1 right at the start of the decade and was Billboard's song of the year for 2010.

"All of Me" is a song by American recording artist John Legend from his fourth studio album Love in the Future (2013). Legend co-wrote the song with Toby Gad and co-produced it with Dave Tozer. The song is a dedication to Legend's wife Chrissy Teigen. "All of Me" impacted American mainstream urban radio as the album's third single on August 12, 2013.

Radioactive is another big one. It was on the top 20 year end Billboard chart for two years in a row. It started on the charts in 2012 and didn't come off until 2014. Pretty sure that's the longest a song has been on the charts in history.

"Just the Way You Are" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars is the lead single from his debut studio album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010). The song was written by Mathew Alexander Woolford who wrote these words for a girl he loved and posted onto her blog only to be plagiarised and never credited by The Smeezingtons, Khalil Walton and Needlz and produced by The Smeezingtons, and Needlz.

"Waves" by Mr. Probz and Robin Schulz; it didn't chart too high, but it's memorable for its longetivity. "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit is also memorable too.

"Let It Go" is a song from Disney's 2013 animated feature film Frozen, whose music and lyrics were composed by husband-and-wife songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The song was performed in its original show-tune version in the film by American actress and singer Idina Menzel in her vocal role as Queen Elsa. "Let It Go" reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and won both the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2014 and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media in 2015.

Uptown Funk- Bruno Mars?
"Uptown Funk" (stylised as UpTown Funk!) is a song recorded by English producer Mark Ronson, with guest vocals by American recording artist Bruno Mars, for Ronson's fourth studio album, Uptown Special (2015). Sony Music Entertainment released the song as the album's lead single on 10 November 2014. The song was written by Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Mars and Philip Lawrence; with Ronson, Mars and Bhasker credited for producing it as well.

The single has been commercially successful, spending seven weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart, eight weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, and topped the charts in several other countries including Australia, Canada, Ireland, France and New Zealand. The single held the record of the all-time most streamed track in a single week in the United Kingdom, having been streamed 2.56 million times in a single week. In 2015 the song won Ronson the Brit Award for British Single of the Year.
