Not at all, YouTube is providing the job it set out to do!

I still upload Youtube videos weekly concerning TV from the '80s-'90s (and occassioanlly earlier). Until some other video site comes along and replaces it, its not going away anytime soon. Imagine all those users who would have to download their videos if there is announcement of the site shutting down.

For the past winter I have been able to watch my favourite BBC television shows in a foreign land under the courtesy of YouTube.

Thank you YouTube!

What peak do you mean? It's not that Youtube is just a fad or something. It's a useful medium which has nearly replaced TV for me.

I hate the advertisements. It's become so corporate now. You can actually have a career as a you tuber.

I think you should try Hulu or Netflix. On YouTube, they tend to take vids down that infringe on copyright.

I primarily use Youtube to watch older shows. There don't seem to be a huge copyright problem. For movies, you might be right. I should try a different site!

I find Facebook (Messenger) usual for quick communication, it is faster than e-mail.

Apart from this bloody copyright nonsense, YouTube rocks.

I uploaded my first ever video to it last week.

Youtube US is still a dream. On German Youtube, they have disabled a lot of songs due to copyright reasons. You can still play them, if you are in another country, though.

Simple fix to that (unless the IP address is tracked) is to go to the bottom of the page and change the country to U.S.

That's not working, because Youtube clearly locates me by checking my IP address. I can use proxy servers, though, but they slow down the connection. This is also not working on my smartphone, too.

Oh I see. Yeah I can definitely relate to that on other websites. Being in Canada, I'm not allowed to view videos on CBS, Fox, MTV, and other American networks.

Because Youtube did not pay the German "Society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights"... They are in charge for anything related to music on German territory, including Youtube clips.

It's strange, because the banned clips are actually the same clips that you usually watch in North America.

That's why I always see "Cannot play in your country".
