David Bowie and SpongeBob SquarePants - together at last.
The rock legend is to write a song for a new Broadway musical about the Nickelodeon TV character, it has been announced.
Producers have also recruited John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Dirty Projectors, The Flaming Lips, TI, Plain White Ts, They Might Be Giants, Lady Antebellum, Panic! At the Disco and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.
"We're taking our leads from the TV show but this is an original story, with an original design approach, and original songs written just for the occasion by an amazing array of songwriters," director Tina Landau said.
A stroke of genius? We'll find out when The SpongeBob Musical opens next June, before moving to Broadway later next year.

Not the first time Squidward's greatest nuisance (besides Patrick) united with Ziggy Stardust. Bowie guest starred in 2007's "Atlantis Squarepantis."
Let's see how this turns out. Sounds weird on paper, but if Tyler, Perry (Not Tyler Perry! ;D), Bowie, and the Lips are involved, at least it'll have a kickass soundtrack. I hope.
