Subject: Brokeback Mountain heads to the London stage

Written By: Philip Eno on 09/11/15 at 11:46 am

Brokeback Mountain is set to be adapted for the stage, with plans to bring it to London next year.

Producer Tom O'Connell has acquired the stage rights for Annie Proulx's short story, about two cowboys who secretly fall in love, calling it a "heart-warming tale of an unbreakable bond".

It was adapted in to an Oscar-winning film, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger in 2005.

Proulx said she is "looking forward with sharp anticipation to the stage interpretation", adding that it has been "a strange journey for two messed-up wannabe cow-hands from Wyoming".

"The actors who pull on their scuffed-up boots will step into a difficult time in a hard place."
