I'd have to agree with this.  I mean, in essence, when art is created as a expression of your interests (for why would anybody make something they loathe?)  One can pay homage to a different time period by recreating an artwork in a similar style or even parodying it, but you are still creating things "of your own time." 

I know my husband's uncle collects hundreds of classical art paintings or more likely art prints, of classic religious icons or scenes.  Lots of Madonna and child, and alot of crowds gathered to see someone dying in some horrible way (while in the sky a multitude of angels awaits the dying...) lots of that kind of stuff. 
That doesn't reflect a certain time period, more of a cultural thing.  If one follows the religious stuff, then all the images that those prints represent are what you tend to believe.

Me?  I do (or did, since I  am knee deep in moving boxes right now.) photoshopped pictures of members of this board.  Why?  It's fun, and challenges me.  I don't see that I am leading any cultural or artistic movement.
