Subject: How Different is 2016 compared to 2012

Written By: d90 on 02/15/16 at 10:41 pm

I personally don't see much difference between 2016 and 2012.
2006 and 2002 had alot more differences than 2016 and 2012

2016 isn't really over so we can't say. Maybe a stock market crash will happen tomorrow or maybe the Internet of Things will take off at the end of the year or Bernie Sanders causes a literal revolution, then 2016 will probably feel different from 2012.

* The economy of 2012 was a lot worse than now.
* Gay marriage was still a battleground in 2012, rather than a losing fight for conservatives.
* Awful 2010s fashion trends like side buzzes and 90s "revival" clothing were only just getting started in 2012.
* Netflix and other video subscription services were popular in 2012, but not as dominant as they are now.
* Shows like Breaking Bad and Glee were still at their height in 2012, but now everybody's talking about Netflix and Amazon original series like Orange Is the New Black and Jessica Jones.
* iPhones and tablets were very popular in 2012, but even more so now.
* Dumbed down social media like Instagram is more popular today than it was four years ago.
* 2012 was still primarily a 7th-generation gaming year, while 2016 is 8th-generation.
* ISIS was not yet seen as a primary threat in 2012.
* SJW culture hadn't quite gotten out of control yet in 2012, compared to its overwhelming presence now.
* There wasn't any Frozen merchandise flooding every store in 2012, although the Minions were already really popular.

Other than that, 2012 and 2016 aren't tremendously different, in my opinion.  The former is a lot closer to the latter than it is to 2008.

I think it's possible that the stock market could crash, and that Bernie Sanders could win the election. As for the Internet of Things, that'll probably (hopefully) never happen

It's only February dude! There is no point in comparing 2012 to the current year because it just started. It would have been more appropriate if you changed the title to 2015.

2016 just started so there's no way he should make a comparison yet.

I'm locking this thread as it has no merit.
