This is tricky.... but if I had to choose I'd say Boomer, but a late one. For instance here's some photos from his youth

This seems VERY 70's, so definitely leaning on the boomer side of things

A baby boomer.

Clearly a Boomer.  The transition from Boomer to X doesn't even begin until the mid-60s, roughly late 1963 or so.

He's a late Baby Boomer, since he was born in 1961.

Baby Boomers always seemed to be one of the more clearly defined generations, no? As in there is less debate about the boundaries (1946-1964). Obama is barely even on the border.

I think the reason for this is because the Baby Boom lasted from 1946-1964, so its easier to pan out. We know that Gen X started in 1965 because of lowering birth rates, but its when it ended is where the debate becomes pretty heated because its not exactly clear. One thing I noticed though is that if you actually count 18 years from 1965-1983 instead of the usual 15 year time period from 1965-1980, the population of Gen X increases immensely! To the point that there's arguably more Gen Xers than Millennials.

Here's how I found it:

http://www.goldmansachs.com/our-thinking/pages/millennials/

And here's the populations for the generations when you rearrange it as all of them being 18 years:

Baby Boomers: B. 1946-1964: population 77 Million

Generation X: B. 1965-1983: population 78.31 Million

Millennials: B. 1984-2002: population 82.96 Million

Note I'm not suggesting this as the official generational guidelines, but its a pretty interesting perspective!

Wow, so there are more Gen-X'ers than Baby Boomers? :o (though I don't really see 1981-1983 as X years...)

Well that's when you apply the same age range as Baby Boomers, making both generations 18 years in length. Although I agree with you that I don't really see 1981-1983 babies as really all that Gen X. I guess 1981 might be able to pass, but IMO if you graduated High School in 2000, while cuspy, is more on the Y side of things.

I guess if we could look at generations like this:

Baby Boomers: b. 1946-1964 (a total of 19 birth years) - Came of age between 1964-1982 during an era of turbulence
http://search.freedomarchives.org/images/thumbnails/Anti-war.gif

Population: 77 Million

Demographic Peak: 1960

Cultural Peak: 1955

Generation X: b. 1965-1981 (a total of 17 birth years) - Came of age between 1983-1999 during the end of the Cold War/Economic Prosperity
http://www.albanystudentpress.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/clerks.jpg

Population: 69 Million

Demographic Peak (or should I say bust): 1976

Cultural Peak: 1972

Millennials: b. 1982-2000 (a total of 19 birth years) - Came of age between 2000-2018 during the era of Terrorism/Economic Strife
http://brooklynbased.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3025672-inline-i-3-broad-city-girls-int.jpg

Population: 83 Million

Demographic Peak: 1990

Cultural Peak: 1991

Lol its from the show Broad City on Comedy Central. The main characters are in their early-mid 20's, while the actors themselves were born in 84' and 87' respectively!

I know I was extremeley shocked when I found out as well ;D

I'll admit the show is pretty funny though, they mock the stereotypical Hipster/SJW Culture to a tea

I never even heard of this show until he showed me tonight, in fact, that probably shows how I haven't watched cable TV lately unless it's been news or live sports. Most of my TV show watching has been on Netflix lately. So, I just looked at the promo, and guys, I don't what to say about this one.
