Subject: Deadpool. (topic changed)

Written By: the2001 on 02/28/16 at 11:31 am

Thoughts?

This is the topic formerly known as 2016 vs 2006 so far.

Since the only 2010s relevant discussion happening is the talk about Deadpool I have decided against locking the topic but....

2001 you can examine the relevancy of 2016 in November but it's too soon to and to specific to discuss it now.

So let's all talk about Deadpool instead!!!!

I think I like the first two months of 2016 because we have Deadpool. As for first two months of 2006, I can't recall what happened exactly in the first two months.

Is Deadpool a good movie? My wife wants to see it but I don't know if I wanna go see another bad movie. I really liked Ryan Reynolds acting in Van Wilder so I'd enjoy it if it's similar to that.

It got off to a corny start imo, but by the middle and end I was thoroughly enjoying it. It's a great movie, not anywhere close to 'best movie ever' status, but definitely worth a watch. Also, it has some 80s nostalgia.  :P

Oh, rad! Now the important question: is the humor good? Please tell me the humor's good. Deadpool's supposed to be wacky and stupid.

Yeah! That's the whole point of the movie!  :D It's hillarious and has a lot of gore/hawt smex too. But like I said, in the beginning it tries a bit too hard to be funny, but by the middle it picks up.

Yeah, even the action/movie theme was 80's too!

It might also be 80s, but I remember it being used pretty often by "sk8ers"  in the early 2000s. I didn't hear it often after that.

If there's hot sex either my wife's gonna cover my eyes or I'm gonna cover her's and we're gonna miss the whole movie! ;D Alright, I'll definitely check it out in theaters!

That is super rad! 8)

It is! We used it a lot in the Y2K era (1998-2002 as noted by historians) but I'll always see it as an 80's slang. Even back then I'd call things "ill", "bad" or "bitchin" and that's all 70's and 80s.

Y2K era slang  ;D

Hey, SlowpokeMc2001. What years do the Y2K era consist of. ::)

Deadpool was awesome.

It was raunchy, violent, self referential, chock full of humor and and beheadings and amputations and sex and fun!!!

It wasn't a superhero movie it was an anti-hero movie.

It was pretty much like the comic books.

Deadpool exceeded my expectations and I didn't expect it to do that good in the box office. This was definitely the best R rated comic book movie I've ever seen. Others I've seen in the past like Kick-Ass 1 & 2 weren't all that special IMO. Just mediocre at best. When it comes to the movie, the comedy was done at the right times while telling the story. Although it did get to the point where some of the jokes got a little repetitive. The origin story about Deadpool was really epic and I liked how this movie was done chronologically. Great start for 2016 movies so far.

Yep, those are my thoughts as well. That's why I had to be careful in my sentence and just simply say "comic book" movie. Deadpool or Catwoman are examples of anti-heroes; both had their own movies. Anti-heroes usually save the world for themselves instead of the people, and can get in a lot of trouble at times. They have a dirty personality lol!

Even people who aren't really into comic book movies enjoyed it as well. It broke records in the box office as one of the top R rated movies of all time. I saw it on opening weekend on a Saturday, the line was extremely long af and there were parents who brought their kids with them too haha!

Back on topic. I thought Deadpool was good, not my most favorite film.

But I did find Ryan Reynolds attractive. :.ducks:.

I am so glad they fought for, and earned, the "R" rating.  It wouldn't be Deadpool without it.
