Love this list!  :D

Thanks :) Im one of the few people that actually liked music in 2012 and 2013 alot, 2014 was a downhill year except for some songs, 2015 was a bit better but IMO 2013 or 2011 were the best years for pop songs. 2016 so far has been pretty good.

Not my favourite hit of the 00s, but I quite enjoyed 'Desperate Measures' by Marianas Trench.  I give this one high praise because they were a band I never gave much thought of because they were just your standard pop-punk group with similar sounding (but not terrible) songs, but this one I really like, and I've enjoyed everything they've put out ever since.

Airplanes (In The Night Sky), Love The Way You Lie and Stereo Love. Possibly among the very few hits coming out of this decade that could prove to be "timeless pop-rock classics" ala Fleetwood Mac or Journey.
An honorable mention for Wiz Khalifa's Roll Up but I highly doubt this tune will age quite as well as the above mentioned.

Anything by Tegan and Sara because I have absolutely zero freedom of choice. Because I have a vag and get aroused by other females, I'm forced to listen to Tegan and Sara or anything similar or else I'll be a pariah to the world.

Since the threat title is "hit song" I'll post my single-handed favorite song of the decade so far.  I would go with Bad Romance, but that's technically a 2009 song.  Instead, I am going with a largely forgotten electrohop song, Jay Sean ft Nicki Minaj - 2012, from summer 2010.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It's crazy that song is already 7 years ago already, that song still seems so recent in a way still to me though it is getting older too.

Seems like almost another world to me.  I really miss that era.

A lot of people don't really grasp how dark the zeitgeist is in this country right now.  This decade has really went in a terrible direction.  Despite the economy, 2010 was a much happier and more hopeful time in this country.

Yeah I know, it does seem really different in a lot of ways yet I can picture it in my memory very easily. It's just depressing how time passes by you that way. We're definitely a mess right now.

Tell me about it. I have tried to enjoy the decade pop culturally until it ends, but that hasn't been successful aside from the few things I like.

I agree.  In many ways it feels like my "time" was the late '00s and early '10s.  I look at my life right now and popular culture right now and it just isn't "my culture" anymore like it was in the early '10s.  That's not to say there isn't some good stuff coming out right now, but I am having to be a lot more selective.

Yeah me too, I mean that's kinda natural since we're in our 30s. But I mean I think today would still suck even if the pop culture was good. As long as the social political culture is so hateful it will suck, I just can't get it out of my head how hateful people are today.

I agree.  It's even worse when you live in the South.  I think the current zeitgeist actually affects how I perceive the pop culture.  My personal life went into the trashcan in mid 2012 and that coincides when I started to perceive the pop culture going downhill.  It was around the time 'Call Me Maybe' was popular.  Really hard to believe we are a half decade away from that.  I would say 2012 was definitely a transition year.
