What is everyone's favorite years of the 2010's so far? And why so?
2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016

Personal life

1. 2010 - I had an amazing year, a lot of trips too.
2. 2011 - The year before the bad year so I still had a somewhat innocent mind then, and it was overall just fun.
3. 2015 - Surprisingly decent, some good trips that year.
4. 2016 - Decent year for me, definitely not bad, somewhat boring, started listening to the charts much more than I used to.
5. 2014 - Meh, it was okay, very boring, occasionally depressing
6. 2013 - Same as above, but more frequently depressing, and not as boring.
7. 2012 - Worst year of my life for personal reasons, extremely depressing in the second half.

I'll come back later and do pop culture or/and overall.

I'm not really comfortable dividing the 2010s by calendar years because there's too much to be said for each year, if we're talking about pop culture that is. I prefer dividing it into more specific segments like school years and summers. I'm going to go by chronological order on this one and not from most to least favorite.

2009–10: 8/10
Summer 2010: 7/10
2010–11: 7.5/10
Summer 2011: 8.5/10
2011–12: 9/10
Summer 2012: 8/10
2012–13: 8/10
Summer 2013: 9/10
2013–14: 10/10
Summer 2014: 11/10
2014–15: 10/10
Summer 2015: 9/10
2015–16: 8/10
Summer 2016: 7.5/10

In my personal life on the other hand..

1. 2014 - Amazing summer, had a great family trip to Florida for the holidays, feel good vibes man!  8)
2. 2013 - Moved from Utah to Texas, had a lot of fun, would go back in an instant if I had the chance.
3. 2015 - Got my first job, started college, yet struggled with mild depression on and off throughout the year and I had appendicitis at the end.  :o
4. 2012 - An adventurous year and got to go to a lot of different places especially throughout the summer!
5. 2016 - Made some deep bonds with my friends, perhaps my most fulfilling year yet.
6. 2011 - Had a nice summer, other than that it was pretty ordinary.
7. 2010 - Moved from Ohio to Utah, other than that not too exciting. Started 9th grade.

Overall I like pretty much all of the 2010s and I have not really had a bad year in my personal life. Each year has something fun and new to provide and memories have been made each year!

Here is my top 3 ranking, Ill try to make it as short as possible !

2016

So much stuff has happened this year politically (and not all good ) and pop culturally, I think we will never forget this year.Who can forget the Pokemon go craze? ( I have a feeling this will be looked back with extreme fondness lol ) I am also a sucker for the year ending in 6 for any decade, this year had a similar feeling to 2006 and 1996. If any movie is made on the 2010s on the future it will prob be set in this year. I almost got married to a girl I met in California  (abeit things did not work out, it will be a learning experience I will never forget)

2014

I feel like this year culture kind of normaled out to the midness.  Girl meets world was a pleasant surprise.
Music this year was pretty good. Fancy by Iggy was like the Ace of Base all that she wants of the 2010s.
TRL came back this year which also was a fun surprise. Walking Dead was on point this year.

2011

Dance pop was still king, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Taio Cruz lol 2011 has alot of moments. Occupy wallstreet, Osama being caught.
The vibe of this year was pretty much fun.

I don't really like the 2010s so much, but here's what I think about it. Also, I don't really have a favorite year. I'm just ranking on what years were the best to worst for me.

Much different than how I was feeling earlier in the year...

2016 has been the best year of my life for so many reasons....

I finally met a group of people that is like a family to me...

A best friend in my life who is quite honestly the best person I have ever met and has changed me and my entire life...

Started working...

Finally started Junior Year with a different outlook on life.

Still missing the upbeat and fun vibe of the early 2010s. Not the biggest fan of the mid 2010s due to not caring too much for the political or pop cultural things. However if we're talking personal life then I'd end up favoring the mid 2010s. But I can definitely see a lot of people having nostalgia or crazy memories of this decade when we reach the late 2020s onward.

I might be in the minority here, but pretty much my high school years so basically the early 2010's to 2014. I have a strong feeling that the late 2010's are going to be excellent for me, especially with me transferring soon.

I feel like 2017 is gonna be a good year for me. 2018 not sure but 2019 most likely a good year because I plan on graduating university that year.

I don't really have a favourite year (because, in all honesty, I don't like the 2010s). However, I am going to rank which years were the best to worst, for me personally.

2010 - I consider 2010 to be the last year of my childhood. Overall, it was a pretty good year.
2011 - Reasonably good year.
2013 - Not a great year, but it wasn't terrible either.
2016 - 2016 is a strange year for me. I want to like it, because my sports team won their maiden premiership this year, I bought my first car and since May, I have been able to drive on the road by myself. However, it still wasn't a great year for me personally and for numerous reasons as well (some of which were out of my control).
2014 & 2015 - Both are on par with each other. They weren't great years, to be honest.
2012 - Absolutely terrible year for me. It is the worst year of my life. For me, personally, there are very little positives from 2012.

😱 but 2012 had Gangnam Style and Game of Thrones Season 2.

2012 was my first and second year of university, party years lol. I had an on-campus research job too, the dream!

2013 wasn't that bad pop culturally honestly, I might like it more than 2015, and I straight up love 2014. My floor here is really high; so even if 2013 is at the bottom for me and the top for you, I might still like the year more than you do  :P :P ;D

2010, culturally and 2013; 2016, personal life. This decade hasn't been for me so far....
I HATED my early 2010s high school experience,  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'(    The mid 10s have been decent, personal life wise and pop culturally, they've kinda sucked. Hopefully, with the Late 2010s underway and now transitioning to the workforce, things will start getting good again. :(

We sort of already did this a little while back, but I''ll weight in my two cents, anyway. This time, I'm going to factor personal life and popular culture as a whole into one criteria.

From best to worst:

2010 - Easily the best year for popular culture overall since the Y2K era, with online web series very much in a golden age, popular music having actual sonic depth and melodic intuitiveness, and digital age technology still a welcome convenience and not the same type of stupefying behemoth it is today. My personal life was also great this year, between my then-enthusiam for learning, the range of extracurriculars I partook in, and feeling more generally outgoing than usual.

2011 - Though I had a painful summer this year, this was another great all-around year, even though it can't quite top 2010. I performed better in school this year than any other, perhaps motivated by the burst of introspection I got following my infatuation with another girl in my graduating high school class. The quality of new media was JUST STARTING to decline, but there were still plenty of things I loved that were either still going strong (Nostalgia Critic, SMOSH, Breaking Bad, AVGN, electropop music, technological balance) or just taking off (Epic Rap Battles of History, Nintendo 3DS). This was also the last full year that fashion was solidly nondescript with modest 2000s leftovers, before tacky looks like the side buzz and glassless thick-rimmed glasses redefined clothing for the "accepting" generation.

2013 - This was the first year that I thought was distinctly firmented in the tumultuous/politically correct/alt-Right/SJW world of the classic 2010s, but in all frankness, it was still a pretty decent 12 months. This was probably the last full year that popular music wasn't half bad, there was still a bit of lingering quality to the online video world (especially with the takeoff of the mid-2010s staple, Honest Trailers), both film and gaming were above-average, and even though the SJW-millennial culture was annoying, it didn't yet feel like there was no pulse to popular culture whatsoever. Personally, I didn't have a TON of close friends, but I did finally get to officially start my transition, with a far more accepting response than I could ever imagine.

2016 - This is, hands down, the absolute worst year for popular culture in several decades, but thankfully, it's possibly the best of my personal life this decade, thus stashing it in the middle of my rankings here instead of the very bottom. No year I've lived through has ever felt this dour for world events, especially with travesties such as the anti-transgender bathroom movement, resurgence of active racism, Brexit, the YouTube censoring policy changes, and, of course, the unexpected election of a man who may threaten Andrew Johnson's title as worst American President in history. Movies and music have also been solidly substandard. On the bright side, however, I've been able to better handle my past insecurities this year, developed greater self-confidence, made important friendships, played Ophelia in Hamlet, and, after 12 and a half years of painful wait, finally met my first girlfriend, with whom I've built a remarkably close mutual relationship in a short period of time. This year has definitely had its lows, but it has also gradually gotten me out of the personal rut of mine that began on June 6, 2011.

2012 - Aside from the Election and "Gangnam Style," I remember surprisingly little about this year. This was about when I could tell the 2010s were turning out to be a much staler decade than I had anticipated, but it wasn't awful, either. My personal life was pretty rotten during the first half of this year, especially around April, but the second half was okay, to say the least.

2014 - This was a highly mixed year for my persobal life and a fairly atrocious one for populat culture. By now, I had come to fully loathe the 2010s zeitgeist, with almost nothing new exciting me anymore. The only real saving graces of YouTube were Honest Trailers and Watch Mojo, music got terrible around the second half of the year, and cinema wasn't especially interesting aside from indie flicks like Whiplash. My personal insecurities definitely haunted me this year, though I kept somewhat calm through my hoard of new (retro) music.

2015 - As a Back to the Future fan, I gotta say I'm tremendously letdown by how much I turned ouy to despise this year. Both my personal life, as well as popular culture (sans movies) were piss poor this year. My nostalgia for decades past was in top gear, hence why I joined this board in June this year. The number of shocking and unpleasant disappointments I experienced this year, especially through dating, was so astronomical it's a wonder I didn't totally fly off the edge as most people in my shoes probably would have. 2015 was just such a shallow, insensitive, stagnant, deceitful, and bitter period that pretty much killed my entire sense of active purpose, leaving me with nothing but escapism, family, and vague hope for the future to pull me through. At least October 21 was just as wonderful as I had anticipated.

From best to worst

Personally:

1. 2013

2. 2012

3. 2010

4. 2011

5. 2014

6. 2019

7. 2018

8. 2015

9. 2016

10. 2017

It's hard to rank objectively since it's like comparing logs of sh** to each other. I'd say overall early 10s > mid 10s > late 10s because compared to the rest of the decade, early 10s technology wasn't as intrusive, we weren't as divided as we are now and there was a much more optimistic and happier vibe. It still had some core 00s aspects to it remaining as well. Mid 10s is really just one massive filler period and late 10s music and memes are facking terrible and has a very divisive atmosphere.

I feel the same way about how hard it was to rank them, only for me it was early > late > mid. Here's my ranking:

2012

2015 (only mid year I liked)
2019
