Subject: "Malibu" sounds different from the typical mid-2010s crapola

Written By: HeyJealousy on 07/01/17 at 12:36 am

I can't say I love the song, but I can definitely enjoy it if I try. Neither "Malibu" nor "Sign Of The Times" would really fit into a 2014/2015 playlist. Hell, it stands out from the earlier 2017/2016 tracks....

I usually don't like Miley Cyrus but that song has something I actually can enjoy. It seems more mature than the other stuff she did.

I preferred Prince's version of Sign of the Times.

Me too, Prince always did things to near-perfection. I'm just noting that the Styles tune is a departure from what dominated the airwaves prior. Not that I waste too much time listening to Top 40 anymore. But I hear the songs in public, I hear them when flipping through stations on occasion, etc

Agreed. "Wrecking Ball" ain't my thing, but "Malibu" might just be her breakthrough away from the teen-pop/shock-pop reputation of hers

I'm quite 'whatever' with Miley Cyrus, but her songs are alright.

A bit different but it's still boring, unimaginative crap. :-\\

I hear Coldplay like chords. Not that different from a lot of music played since +/- 2009.

I think she "jumped the shark" with all that nudity nonsense.  ::)

I was never into her, as a musician, so I never fell out of love with her.  ;D

I do admit that she was too nude and over the top at times. Her song is a hit and so will her future songs.

Not really. The song totally sucks.  :P

She didn't jump the shark, she got swallowed up by one.

I wonder if she will restart with the nudity if her career tanks? ???

I think we've seen enough of her tongue in 2013.

I remember when everybody wanted to see her nude then it actually happened and it was very disappointing to say the least. I've (along with much of the internet) have now seen "all" of Miley Cyrus literally and I wasn't really all that impressed tbh LOL. Now it's like "please keep your clothes on, Miley!"  :-\\  ;D

It just came back to me. That's a more modest, innocent shot of Britney. Still a hawtie

I agree. "Malibu" would sound out of place if it had of been released a year or two earlier. I personally think that it's one of the best songs to have been released in the mainstream this year.

I think "Malibu" is ok, however I prefer Miley Cyrus' other song this year, "Younger Now".

I agree, I do like "Younger Now" better than "Malibu."

My favorite song this year so far has to be "What About Us" by Pink.  It's the perfect song for this era of my life.
