Subject: Will the 2020s be backlash of 10s or embrace it.

Written By: Charmed17 on 10/17/17 at 6:50 pm

I wondering if you guys think in op the 2020s will be a backlashing decade at the 10s or will they embrace this decade.I really hardly doubt the 2020s will embrace the 10s. ;)

I think so. There's no way the current atmosphere will still continue in the next decade. However, I do hope the backlash begins soon that way the culture can finally have a do-over.

I think the '10s, more or less, have been a continuation of the '00s.  There are differences, some big, but the '10s aren't as different from the '00s as say the '90s were from the '80s.

I think the 2020s will finally see a transition into a completely new cultural identity, especially if Trump loses in 2020.

2017 is 2010s-on-steroids. The Trumpettes tried to kill 2010s culture but it only came back with a vengeance :o

It's possible that there will only be an evolution of culture rather than a backlash, like the '90s going into the 2000s.

I hope everyone realizes how stupid they've been acting with this back and forth fighting and taking sides. People need to unbunch their panties and look for reasons to get along. Holy crap.

I wish the trumpettes would of fully eliminated 10s culture it would of been awesome.

Agreed! I've honestly never seen people get this offended at anything even over something silly. It's better to just work together than to have a grudge.

Unfortunately, most of the issues people are fighting about will only be settled with a large segment of our population changing their opinions about whether or not certain people should be thought of and treated 100% as their equals or settled by genocide since the other groups will never stop griping about injustice. Those are the only ways to completely settle the issue.

That can happen. I mean, just look at how much support has increased for the LGBTQ over the last 15-20 years.

Yet, LGBTQ rights is still one of the most divisive issues of our time.  One of the big reasons we have Trumpism is because a third of the population can't handle same-sex relationships being treated equally under the law as heterosexual relationships.  As far as we've come, sometimes it seems like we really haven't come very far.

TBH, the only people I see being nostalgic over the 10s are people who were kids during the decade such as the 2005-2012 borns

There will be a lot of teens who will become nostalgic for the 2010s as well.

That's a stupid generalisation. Lots of people become nostalgic for the 2010s, teenagers included Bascially anyone born 1990-2012 will be nostalgic at some point for the 2010s. Of course all the other people can too but they were a lot older during the decade.

Well, that's their problem. They need to realize that same-sex relationships have nothing to do with them. Why are they crying and getting offended over an issue that should have been seen as a right in the first place?

Honestly there won't really be anything to get nostalgic about this decade over.what Facebook,Snapchat, insta, and Twitter there is no way I can get nostalgic for these.

Sorry I meant the core 10s. I just hope the 20s are so much better that older people won't have to have so much nostagia over the 10s. Overall, there will probably be some things that everyone will get nostalgic about from this decade regardless of how the future plays out. I admit, i'll probably be nostalgic over the early 10s as IMO that era had the best music of this decade.

I’m willing to believe that the new artists (such as Kendrick Lamar), TV shows (Bob’s Burgers), catchphrases (I.e.- “Keep calm and carry on”), hairstyles (man bun) and clothes from 2010s will still be around until sometime in the late ‘20s, but they won’t be as great as they were in the ‘10s and very early ‘20s.

People born in the 2000s will become nostalgic for the 2010s by the end of 2028.

Those are my predictions for the 2020s.

Those who hate the 2010s will hate the 2020s more. The 2020s will continue going down the path the late 00s and 2010s was going down and it won't please the 2010s haters.

That's so stupid you know. Why do we have to wait until 2028, people are already nostalgic for the earlier 2010s years already. Also, why 2000s babies, 90 babies can too.

Got a brain? use it. >:(

The 2010s revival movement will be more of a 2030s thing because the 2020s will make ‘90s and ‘00s borns nostalgic for the 2010s while they’re living in them. It’s going to take a while for the ‘10s revival movement to become popular because “2010s holdovers” will still be around for most of the 2020s.

I've said this before but I'll say it in this thread.  I think in many ways the '10s has been more or less a continuation of the aughts.  There are differences, but our current culture/society was set up during the dot-com Y2K era and has simply been evolving since then.  I have a feeling that the '20s will have a very different identity than the '00s or '10s.  We are due for a once-in-a-generation zeitgeist shift, the kind such as what occurred in the early 1990s and mid 1960s.  The kind of shift that completely changes society.

The only way the 2020s will be different is if Hollywood begins to make more original films and if music was more underground like.

I know! The over offendedness isn't just on a certain side either, people are reading into EVERYTHING too much just looking for things to be offended by that really aren't there. It turns every discussion into a flame war if we're talking online and friends and family no longer on good terms if offline.

I hope the stupid man bun trend goes away soon, along with the even stupider partially shaved heads and strange hair colors.

Yes and no. In the 2000's nobody was THIS obsessed with electronics and social media, it could wait until you got home. Now that everything's gone mobile and became convenient, it's all people want to do. But if it stagnates, will people want to continue with the same old same old?

I was just about to make a thread about how badly the 2010s are aging. The decade isn't even over and yet, looking at Internet humour from 2013, for instance, is just cringeworthy.
