Subject: Is 2017 a core 10s year?

Written By: questoftheninja on 10/27/17 at 10:01 pm

The only reason I'm concerned is because while it definentley seems like a core 10s year there also a lot of stuff that has happened and went on that doesn't fit the rest of the decade trump, brexit,Nintendo switch, trl,,TV transition, little bit of rock returning in music, norm core clothing style getting big, attitudes, aelfies being declared dead, will and grace,etc...either way I know the even if 2017 is still a core 10s year that the cores 10s are on short notice and I think late 2018 will be the end of core 10s,but what do you guys think is 2017 still 100% core 10s.

What is a "core year"?
a year that perfectly fits with the decade like 1984 is a core 80s year pop culturally,1995 is a core 90s year culturally. :)

You won't be able to tell until the decade is over.

Yeah it is. 2017 will be the last core year of this decade I think. It is a late 2010s year, but still a core 2010s year. The core 2010s years are something like 2011 - 2017 I think.

also how is it when your not in a core part of a decade anymore does the atmosphere change as well and does something make it seem like it's not core 10s.

I just look at it from the perspective of a bunch of things being popular this decade for a set span of time. Like trap, Game of Thrones, EDM, gritty vibe, etc. These stuff are still popular now and they were for the most of the decade so that's how measure the core 2010s. A core part of a decade is more of a general vibe rather than an era.

I really have no friggin' idea. I suppose it depends on how much changes in 2018 and 2019.

I think it's a bit too hard to determine at the moment. Although, I suspect that it probably will be regarded as a "core 2010s" year in years to come.

It’s hard to tell because this decade isn’t finished yet. But I think 2016 or 2017 might be seen as the last core 2010’s year
