You are that young. You’re only two years older than 2010 borns, which is still within your age range. You aren’t even in your double digits yet, and you are still in the peak of your childhood.

I knew how to do that stuff by the time I was 9 (2002). But computers were expensive back then ($2000+ or $2500+ when adjusted for inflation) so most only had one computer in their house that the family shared. Considering I was on Windows 98 back then, which didn't have passwords or user accounts, if I went on inthe00s.com, the whole house (if not the whole neighbourhood) would know, and it would be very weird and nerdy (not in a good way) for a 9 year old to be on an '80s nostalgia website. ;D

In 2017 it seems everyone has their personal internet device, if not multiple personal internet devices.  :o

On this board we have mid-2010s nostalgia in 2017 going by the thread title ;D

In real life nostalgia doesn't usually go past 2004/2005. In 2005, it didn't go past the early '90s. Things move a bit slower in the real world.

Since I was only 6/7 years old at the time, 2009/2010 feels "far away". 2012 is distant, but I remember some good parts of that year.

Also, isn't it ironic that you have nostalgia for 2012 since you mention 2013 as the most awesome year yet in your signature? 2013 is 4 years ago, which doesn't seem as distant as 2012.

Yes, 2013 and 2012, 2012 is more nostalgic and 2013 is more ''the best'' because I had a lot of fun at age 5 and 2012, as well but 2013 was the most awesome year, 2012 a close second, but I'm more nostalgic since it's farther.

It's risky for you to even have an account on here, SkittlesCat. COPPA law applies to inthe00s as well and your account is infringing those laws. Inthe00s could theoretically get in trouble for allowing you to post with a registered account.

I already know COPPA from being a member of the Animal Crossing Community website. I got banned because I lied about my age, and revealed I was under 13 (11 in 2014). I hated it at the time, but I do understand your point. I'm glad I'm over 13 now (because of COPPA of course).

Didn't he lie about his age to get on here? Shouldn't there be an age restriction since he's considered to be young?

Nope, to get on you can be any age. I personally think that COPPA is the worst law ever created.

You do realize a lot of people lie about their age online right? There could be many members on here who are under 13.

I'm not bugging you. It's the truth. You've already revealed your real age on inthe00s, meaning that it's now clear that the COPPA laws have been infringed. It's a serious thing.

Yeah the internet doesn't work like that.  :P So many people lie about their age on YouTube. I did as well when I was under 13 so I can get an account and I'm sure you did too. It's really normal. Not sure about these laws, but I bet they are not enforced because everybody does it. Not defending this user, just stating that this always happens on all sites and there really is nothing we or any law can do to stop it.

I don't comment on YouTube exactly because it's full of kids. I don't feel comfortable posting with a kid around either. If I post something inappropriate I'd feel pretty bad. I don't want to ruin a kid's innocence :-X

COPPA is a federal law. Forums can be taken down, if they are found to have intentionally infringed the COPPA laws. All it takes is for someone to make a complaint about it and it can easily happen. Forums are much easier targets, because they are smaller communities. To be honest, I don't think it's appropriate for a 9 year old to have a registered account on a public forum anyway. Not being rude or anything to the user, but now I just don't think it's acceptable. Age 9 is too young.

Yeah the internet is so different now compared to when I was 9. Back then I saw a lot of inappropriate stuff on FunnyJunk.com but it was more playful and good-spirited. It was very hard for me to wander off to other inappropriate sites as the web was more rigid back then so whatever I searched that interested me, I stuck to. These days I think the internet has become a lot more of a dangerous place for youngsters given so much easier access to inappropriate sites and the people interacting online have become a lot more cold, trollish, and heartless compared to 13 years ago. I'm not sure how bad it is now but I can see it being pretty concerning now when kids are going to different inappropriate websites. Maybe parents need to monitor their kids more? Back then my parents didn't monitor me but the truth is there was little need as I wasn't going on any fishy sites back then. The worst I did was download a couple songs off LimeWire.  ;D

Lol I know it was terrible and my older brother got me exposed to it.  ;D But honestly, as bad as it was you can find so much more messed up stuff on the web these days and you can access it so much easier. Even just on YouTube you can find worse stuff although recently they have been stricter on moderating it. And at least FunnyJunk was actually funny and in good nature. I luckily rarely went to any chat rooms as a kid. I think it's safe to say the internet was tame in 2004 compared to 2017 and people were a lot more more respectful online back then compared to today.

Aw, damn. Looking back at my childhood with old album photos the very first Mario game I ever played was Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars. I didn't play the original Mario until I got Super Mario Bros Deluxe for the Gameboy Color in 2000.

Now this was epic. Had the original Super Mario Bros. The Japan Mario 2:Lost Levels. As well as extra modes like the Vs Boo, Challenge, multiplayer, and a ton of extra goodies.

When talking about early and mid 2010s kids I'm  shocked that the older 10's kids are now in highschool. As of today the ones in high school are late 1999 to mid 2003 born (when factoring in the Sept 1st deadline).

I’ve played ROBLOX since 2013. ROBLOX has seriously went downhill. They got rid of tix, got rid of the forums this year in December, added too many hashtags, more OD’ers, lack of variety in the front page games. There’s so much to say that made roblox terrible now. I suggest you go on it yourself.
