Lady Gaga's The Edge of Gory is one of my favorite songs. It just summed up the feeling of my life in one of the best years for me ever! So it has to be that one. (none of the above)

Adele - Someone Like You

Pumped Up Kicks was the best popular song of 2011.

Those two songs are the best in my opinion, also Somebody That I Used to Know is part of the best

That was a sleepy hit. It got popular in 2012 here.

2011 was a bad year for music because it had the worst song in the world, Friday.

IMO this or even the year before that was when it started getting bad. Bands like Black Veil Brides seemed to be my last hope.

I don't like how old it sounds. I thought it was some unknown song from the 70s or 80s.

Doesn't count anyway, it was a internet meme not a real hit song. Not sure why people on this board have such a fixation on it for some reason. So your argument for 2011 being a bad year for music is invalid (but sorry but hating a whole year for a single song that's what contrarian 12 year olds do ???)

And actually it's a pretty catchy song with mindless lyrics, and it's meant to be mindless and fun so it is

Friday is a terrible song and 2011 is remembered for it. It's also my opinion, chill. I think 2011 music sucked in general.

Honestly, 2011 was the gradual start of me not paying attention to popular music in the US. I know there were a few songs from that year I liked. Even though this wasn't released in the US or Europe for radio and whatnot, this is one of my top songs from 2011.

Most people remember Adele or LFMAO when they think of 2011, not some stupid viral video on the internet. It would be akin to remembering 2017 for "It's Everyday Bro" instead of "Shape of You" or "Despacito".

Friday was a super popular song in 2011 that everyone knew about and I never even heard of It's everyday bro. Bad comparison.

It's Everyday Bro has double the ammount of views on its video clip than Friday did, and also kickstarted a notorious meme phrase on the internet. Both are dumb songs that only really blew up thanks to viral sharing. You not hearing it isn't an argument. Bad comeback.

That's because YouTube has gotten a lot bigger since 2011... 1 billion views wasn't heard of in 2011 and hundereds of millions of views were fairly rare. Now it is very common with many songs to have over 1 billion views, some having a couple billion. So again, poor comparison.

That was the start of SNSD's decline, when they released The Boys  :-X

But T-ara released the eternal bop that is Roly-Poly.  :D

"A Thousand Years" is a song recorded by American singer and songwriter Christina Perri, and written by Perri and David Hodges, from the album The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (2011), becoming a sleeper hit.

I just can't choose one when I like at least 90% of those (I don't know the rest but maybe if I listen to them I would find I've heard them on the radio). Such great times for being a popular music fan! How did we went from that great variety to Despacito being regarded as a serious song and not a novelty tune?
