Subject: What birth years from your experience act like stereotypical 2010s teens?

Written By: unicornic on 02/27/18 at 10:51 am

Yes, I know that your year of birth doesn’t really dictate how you act or what your destiny in life is going to be. I know that everyone is different. But from your experience only, what birth years have you found to be the perfect example of a 2010s teens? What I mean by this is not the actual  quintessential 2010s teens, but more so ones who act like quintessential 2010s teens, like the ones who mostly post on Instagram and Snapchat a lot, listen to Mainstream EDM/trap, are a lot into the 2010s trends and fads, dress like a 2010s hipster, and of course, a 2010s teen.
Based on only the people I hangout with, those born from 1999-2000 seem to be the perfect example of a stereotypical 2010s teen

Yeah I mean pretty much anyone who was a teenager during this decade, meaning roughly 1993-2006

I don't know about Snapchat but I know people my age (1990-1994) act like stereotypical youth usually. Although in not sure we act like teens anymore, just young.

Not really. How is someone from 1993 or 2006 going to be a stereotypical 10s teen, so what they spent one or two of their teenage years on the edge of the decade when the it's not even core 2010s culture. Like a teenager in 2010 didn't have Instagram or Snapchat and fashion was pretty different, doesn't seem very 'stereotypical' 2010s to me.

That's why I said "roughly", meaning that the middle of that group, 1999 and 2000 borns, is the core teenagehood of the 2010s which confirms what the OP said. Facebook was the dominant force for half this decade, and was certainly in hand of earlier 90s borns plus other stuff like EDM and hipster fashion. 2006 borns by this point are certainly getting into "2010s fads and trends" (having a 2005-born sister I can definitely confirm this, she and her classmates listen to Trap and even helps me in configuring my Snapchat lol).

You don’t have to be an actual 2010s teen to act like a stereotypical 2010s teen. That’s the whole point of this thread.

1999 born. They were teenagers in the Early-Mid-Late 2010’s, instead 2000 born were teenagers only in the Mid and Late 10’s

IMO people born in 1997 seem to be the first stereotypical 2010's teens and people born in 2004 seem to be the last stereotypical 2010's teens. :P

This question is self explanatory, it's 2018...who are people that are teenagers in 2018 and thus would act like stereotypical teenagers?

Hmmm...let me think, those born from 1998-2004.

You can also expand it to apply to anyone who was a teen in the core 2010s (2013-2017), then it would be those born from 1994-2003.

Didn't realize we already decided that the core 2010s ended ???

I want to know why 2018 is any more of a stereotypical 2010s year than 2011? They're both on the equal and opposite sides of the decade.

There's no formula for what 2010's year should be more stereotypical 2010's than another. It doesn't work like that. You can have 2018 be more 2010's than 2011. Just because they're both on the equal and opposite sides doesn't mean they have to be both stereotypical 2010's years.

We're currently in the midst of the late 2010s and the culture of now is still 2010s but not core 2010s.

Anyways, none of that matters because the question is self explanatory regardless.

From my experience, any one born within the 1998-2000 range seems to exhibit the most stereotypical 2010s teen stereotypes. I have friends born in 1998/1999 that try to keep this (slightly) old ass hip into the current trends ;D.
