I'll probably stick back to pronouncing the years in the 2020s to thousand again like two thousand twenty one.

Yeah, I would pronounce it the same way. Sounds pretty simple. Either that or saying twenty-twenty or twenty-twenty one  :)

I pronounce 00s like "uh-ohs" I heard this was a thing and it is common to say it like that in some places. This is actually a play on words when everyone thought it was the decade of hell (like "uh-oh the 2000s") so now when ever I see "00s" I say it like oh-ohs.

No it really isn't. People in the 20th century pronounced years both like "1998" or "'98". Both are acceptable, and not terrible for the next coming decades.

What scares me about that is that "the '20s" won't refer to the 1920s anymore. The decade of my grandparents' youth will truly be ancient history.  :\'(

Yeah because everyone who lived in that decade won't be around or will be during their last years so it won't matter anymore so the early 20th century will be irrelevant. Except for referencing historical events, and in that case it will go back to how we do it for the 1800s. Saying it like "1920s". The "20s" are now referencing the next decade as we are in the new millennium now and that's how we will refer to it from now on.

I've only said "Oh one - nine" as shorthand (a la "The Crash of '29"), but I would never be stupid enough to refer to the year I graduated as "twenty oh four," much less "two-oh oh-four." Seriously, who does that? Even robots/machines/automated/AI don't do that.
