That's the phone I had in 2010, the Samsung Galaxy S. Lol those Android 2.x days, I don't miss that laggy mess ;D

I debated getting either that phone or the Xperia X10; I thought it had a really nice design. Back when it was still "Sony Ericsson"!

I got a Galaxy Nexus in summer 2012.

This is exactly how I remember early 2010's smartphones.

I don't know. They don't really seem dated but at the same time, they do.

How dare you not include the blackberry lol

this was one of the most popular phones around 2010-2011-ish.

Me too! Androids had more options than just Samsung and the phones themselves had keyboards as well as being smaller compared to the ones today.

Ah, when you could still hold your phone with one hand. They also came with QWERTY keyboards, and T9/12 key keyboards were being killed off.

My first smartphone that ran either Android or iOS (never have and thankfully never will own a Windows phone) was the Samsung Galaxy Ace. God that thing sucked - I couldn't play this 3D game I wanted to on it, and it had low internal storage. I admit in retrospect I had some good times with it; part of it was because it and an iPhone 4s were the last phones that I had that my dad was able to pay for unlimited data with them. These days, I have a good wifi signal in the places I frequent (home and uni).

Early 2010s smartphones are dated... Very much so. Especially the internal specs, camera, and the screen quality.

My first smartphone was from 2012. It was Galaxy S3. Super dated by today's standards but it was the hottest phone of 2012.

I remember I kind of wanted one of those when they said they were going to port PS1/PS2 games to it (which I don't think they ended up doing).  :-X

I love and prefer the look of early 2010s slider phones. I feel the phones are more creative aesthetically than modern touch screen phones. Of course I don't miss how slow and underdeveloped (compared to phones from today) they were.  ::)

The first smartphone I ever owned was the Samsung Exclaim

http://i68.tinypic.com/8yw7qg.jpg
This one was my favorite. I always had so much fun sliding that keyboard in and out and I thought I was the sh*t.

The next smartphone I purchased was the Samsung Moment from Sprint.

http://i63.tinypic.com/qpkjs6.jpg
This was Sprint's very first Android phone and was extremely bulky and uncomfortable. Everyone at my school teased me for it. I actually still have it but I wish I would've kept the Exclaim too. These phones look so dates when you use them.

I just realised there was a much bigger variety of phones back then, these days it's like all about iPhones, iPhones, iPhones :P

Little history of what phones I had:

Back in 2010 I recieved my first ever touchscreen phone when I was in middle school, which was this ultra high-tech LG phone
http://img.bfmtv.com/c/1256/708/af5/bda162fea8ee20d3fe9b68d2c9385.jpg

Then in the summer of 2012 I recieved this Nokia phone cuz a big keyboard really appealed to me back then for some reason:

Wait, are these phones THAT outdated :\'(?

Smartphones really did seem to have a bit more variety back then. They all have different colors, keyboards, etc.

It's pretty apparent, they all tried to go for different shapes and forms. My best guess is thay they were a lot more experimental back then because the smartphone market was only starting booming

Nowadays, it's pretty clear that there's one dominant design

In 2010 when I was in 2nd Grade, the phone I had was my dad's old 2006 phone which was the Samsung D900:

https://cdn2.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/samsung/samsung-d900-00.jpg

My friends would annoy the hell out of me out of me for having such an old phone. They were having blackberry's at the time, and it always used to make me jealous and I would constantly argue with my dad to get me a blackberry. Finally when I was in 5th Grade nearly heading for middle school in 2013, my dad bought me a T-Mobile LG G2X:

I'm kind of sad I missed out on all these designs that flopped horribly. I always stuck to the rectangle with the screen right from the beginning ;D

Sad to see it's so old it isn't compatible with updates past iOS4.

I loved that design! I actually recently bought a 2010 iPod Touch on eBay that has that design. It's not that useful anymore but it brings back good memories because at the time I wanted one.

When I did a jailbreak to my old iPad I never could to upgrade its iOS again, so it has that design to this day

The early 2010s still retained that look.  It's hard to remember when exactly the modern flat look that everything has became prevalent but my guess it was sometime around 2012 or 2013.

2014 was when apple rolled out the current design.
