Subject: I <3 The 2010s

Written By: SailorSteven2017 on 03/12/18 at 10:13 am

I've been seeing a lot of arguments in posts recently regarding the 2010s... That's why I decided to make a thread where we show nothing but love for this decade!

I think someone posted something like this but I'll do it anyway :P . I love how individualistic the fashion has been this decade. While there have been a few trends like yoga pants and thick rimmed glasses, most people have their "own little thing going on" nowadays. I've been very lucky to live in such a unique decade. The Late 2010s, especially, have been a blast so far! I guess being born in 2004 has created me a mini era (Teenage Years - 2017 to 2023/4).

What do you love about the 2010s? Any year can be described and I hope we all get along.  ;)

Haven't seen the movie yet.  :\'(  But it has a pretty cool soundtrack! I can't get enough of "Pray For Me by Kendrick Lamar and Weeknd".  ;D

I like the convenience technology from this decade provides - Amazon Firestick, apps for everything (online shopping, safety apps, email, storage clouds, finding music, etc), the option to purchase or stream music, high tech smartphones

I also like some of the fashion. I liked the colorful fashion of the early 2010s and the 90s inspired fashion later in the decade.

I liked the tropical house trend and loved Black Panther of course.

The democratization of streaming is one of the best gifts of this decade. So much amazing music I discovered so easily, and still more to discover. Every. Single. Day. :D
Also, 2010s underground is ridiculously awesome :D

Also, gimme my netflix flic anyday.

In the future I can see a lot of people getting nostalgic over this decade and those who are kids today will wanna go back. I don't like this decade and think the pop culture sucks but any decade is good when you are alive and well. I just gotta count my blessings and realize it can be a lot worse. This decade is not as bad as the 1940s. And who knows maybe future decades will be even worse.

I enjoy the fashion of this decade. I like that people dress more put together.

I love the dominance of Marvel Studios. People have been btching about it since 2013 and it only keeps getting bigger. I think it's possible that next year will be peak MCU and 2020 will begin it's downfall so I'm gonna enjoy it to the fullest while it lasts.

2018 fashion so far is pretty cool! Like Millennium said, the 90s have been influencing apparel for the later parts of the 2010s; and let me be honest here... I looooooooove where it's heading for guys. I guess us boys are getting the longer end of the stick this time.  ;D

I'm glad people are finally noticing that true 90s nostalgia is just beginning. Most of the 2010s has been very 80s centric and people on this board seem to be completely unaware of that.

I explained plenty of times across the board that is actually BOTH a 20 and 30 years nostalgia cyclus at the same time, can we just accept that ::). The 80s for instance saw nostalgia for both the 50s and 60s (Marty coming in his town on Mr Sandman is still iconic :D).

The 2020s will saw a strong nostalgia sense for the 90s too, no shadow of a doubt.

I'm glad people are finally noticing that true 90s nostalgia is just beginning. Most of the 2010s has been very 80s centric and people on this board seem to be completely unaware of that.

90s nostalgia has been a mostly internet thing for most of the decade, but 80s nostalgia really affected pop culture (“friday” by katy perry, stranger things, “shut up and dance”, NES classic edition, etc...). But now, it seems like the 90s are replacing the 80s while the 00s are replacing the 90s.

I’m very glad we finally have a thread that looks on the bright side of the 2010’s.

This decade has been great in many ways. Despite what adults might say, I feel very lucky to be a teen in the 2010’s with smartphones and apps that make it easier for me to connect with family and friends. I can listen to music straight from my smartphone and it’s amazing.

The 2010’s are easily one of my favorite decades for hip-hop. We have amazing artists like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Logic, DJ Khaled, etc.

And thanks to not only the Internet but smartphone apps like Spotify that make it easier for us to look up these songs.

People need to take off their nostalgia glasses and live in the present. Appreciate the 2010’s while you have it. Because once January 1st, 2020 hits, we are never ever getting this decade back again.

The whole smartphone culture and crap trap hip hop is exactly what I despise about this decade. But if I had to pick something I like then it would be TV like Game of Thrones and some music from the middle part of this decade. I did like the tech trends from the middle part of the decade because it was exciting but now it's boring when all phones have the same specs. I feel like pop culture jumped the shark in 2016.

I don't need to though, by looking at most of the hip hop videos from the mid-late 2000s I can tell the early 2010s can beat them by a mile. The Early 2000s were better though. With an exception of Kanye and Eminem mid-late 2000s hip hop wasn't a good era.

Again, you probably don't know half the albums that came out in the 2000s. I don't know what videos you're watching but they're most likely not a representation of Hip-Hop as a whole during that era. Ringtone / Auto music were only two subgenres of rap. They didn't represent Hip-Hop as a whole, just like trap and mumble rap don't represent Hip-Hop as a whole right now.

The thing is, rap from the 2000s (yes even the mid-late 2000s) was literally a precedent to the rap of this decade. Without rap of the 2000s, you wouldn't have the rap we have today.

I never said people weren't, it seemed that you were offended my comment. I think Early 2010s hip hop is better than 2000s.

I was pointing out that if you have limited knowledge of hip-hop from a certain era, your opinion isn't even an informed one. Now your last sentence sounds like an actual opinion and not a definitive statement.

But anyway, I think you should be the last person to assume someone is offended by a comment because it seems that you're constantly offended by others people's comments on the 90s - 2000s. And I'm not talking about comments like those John T. made which were blatantly obnoxious, but just people who are legitimately reminiscing on the decades the grew up in.

I agree! 2010s hip hop is better than 2000s hands down

I don't get offended when people reminiscing about their childhood in the 90s or 2000s lmao, I only correct them when they decide to avoid every fact and try put their rose tinted glasses on. Heck I even watch 2000s and 1990s commercials when I'm bored so I can definitely see why people are nostalgic for their childhood in the 90s and 2000s, I only defensive when people are like "1990s and 2000s were better I hate this decade so much". Having rose tinted glasses for the rest of your life is a problem, I definitely do get not offended when someone is nostalgic for the 2000s. Nostalgia and Rose tinted glasses is a natural cycle and the current decade will be looked back on as the good times while the 2020s will just be hated on.

But like I said I think Early 2010s hip hop was better than the 2000s that's all, if you disagree then be my guest.

I agree with Millenium and Exodus on this one. There was much more to 00s hip-hop than Snap and Crunk. It sounds like you only listened to those two sub-genres outside of Eminem and Kanye, and not much else. Others that contributed to 00s Hip-hop were Nelly, Ja Rule, The Game, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Ludacris, Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, Mystikal, Maino, T.I, Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, etc. and none of them were considered to be Snap or even Crunk.

I also find it hilarious when some people say today's Hip-hop is much better, and they only listed trap and mumble rap songs when as Millennium stated, they don't define the whole decade. ::) ;D

You do have a point, but i still think Early 2010s hip hop is better than 2000s hip hop. Nuff said for me.

As someone who has listened to both hip-hop from the 2000's and 2010's, I'm going to have to say that 2010's hip-hop is better IMO.

Maybe learn how to reply to someone outside the quote and then you can start talking.
