Here's a few pictures of what i think people will associate as stereotypical 2010's fashion for men

Thick-rimmed glasses, manbuns, plaid. Basically if you look like a nerdy lumberjack.

... or girly lumberjack!    Young men appear to have be drawn heavily into what were once the womens product market (e.g. fragrances, moisturizers, manscaping, hair products etc)

I really don't understand how this whole aesthetic became popular. It really makes me sick  8-P. I already have the feeling that fashion in the 2010s will age horribly. I really hope there is a complete backlash against these hideous trends.

Yep, that seems about right. I don't get why some guys wear stuff like this, it looks horrible. You do you, I guess.

A funny thing about today's "beard" trend...coming from the 60s and 70s as I do, it is obvious that beards were also a trend in the 60s, especially the late 60s. Think of late period Beatles, for example. But the difference I sense from the beard trend then and the beard trend now is that there was just something more natural, more earthy, more HONEST, more "let it all hang out" (as we used to say) about it then. Today's trend seems so much more SELF-CONSCIOUS. Filtered through hipsterism, irony, etc. Not unlike today's fey and highly self-conscious indie music. It's the self-conscious aspect that makes it kind of pretentious.

Actually this is more a 2000s thing, but I never liked the short sleeved t shirt over a long sleeved shirt look, which I have named "the Sheldon Cooper look".  It has an air of goofiness about it. It thankfully seems to have receded now, but it was all-pervasive for quite a while.  Maybe somebody here who knows better than me can give a timeline of when that unfortunate look arose and when it thankfully started to fade away.

It was a '90s/'00s thing, Kurt Cobain sported this look in the Smells Like Teen Spirit music video.

In your opinion, what has aged well?

This is me in early spring. I dress very stereotypically 2010s, and maybe 20 years from now I want to look back at my old pictures and say "Oh my God, that is SO 2010s!" ;D

Gauging the interest of a "What are you wearing today?" thread for those of us who like 2010s fashion (or don't, and doing a throwback style). Would anyone be interested? It would be lame if it was just me posting ;D

Based on all your previous responses to my comments (you probably seek out my posts purposefully), I don't know if you're trying to bate me or not, but whatever. I'm not saying anything has aged well, just that 2010s fashion will age much worse than some other decades. This whole fruity/hipster/fashionable-nerd aesthetic, and its cousin the trashy/trap-rap/fresh-society aesthetic (although they are indistinguishable most of the time), is just disgusting to me. I really hope there are more choices in the 2020s, like there was in previous decades, and not just this pretentious, ugly garbage.

I'm personally not a fan of the 2010s look, if taken to an extreme, but Slowpoke's picture looks like it will age well. It's pretty timeless fashion that could have come from anytime after the 1960s. I think it will hold up well. It won't be the 2010s equivalent of a leisure suit IMO.

Is the shirt supposed to be unbuttoned like that? ???

I really, really don't. I just tend to find many of your opinions overly judgemental and lacking in perspective. You tend to act like there's this great pressure from society to "act the 2010s way" or else when most people mostly dress, act, and listen to what they please. So in a way, I'm trying to bate you so I can understand where you're coming from.

Basically the highly gendered hipster look. God damn it, 2010s, you could have done better!

I never understood the hate for the look, actually.

I wanted a more genderless look - I wish the emo look could have continued for that reason. People hate it because it looks pretentious. From what I've seen once in some meme, these guys look like they could be manly but aren't, because they aren't stereotypical lumberjacks - they only look like it. As with the man bun, they believe it's another element of the "metrosexual" trend of last decade, when men took care of their appearance as a sign of gender non-conformity. Some people hate the side shaves because it looks "edgy". I don't like a variation of it - short back and sides - since it looks like yet another conservative and gender conforming hair cut on men.
