Instead of the 20 year itch cycle how about the 30 year itch. 1950s nostalgia in the 1980s, 1980s nostalgia in the 2010s. Back to the future 2 (1989) and Blade Runner (1982)  set in the 2010s (2015 and 2019). Now Blade Runner 2049 (2017) Set 3 decades from now in the year 2049. I wonder what the world's gonna be like in the 2040s.

In the 2040s, the vision of flying cars will have become a reality. Of course, they will drive themselves.

And also we will not be eating solid food, at least not how we know it today. We'll be able to take a few pills from a vending machine and wash it down with a glass of water, fully nourished and ready to go.

Not to mention Ready Player One which is also set in 2045. The hype for the 2040s is getting real :D.

We have now a 80s movie going back in the 50s, its sequel set in the 2010s and a 2010s movie referencing that said 80s movie and set in the 2040s :o.

I don't like the idea of having to get food from a vending machine unless it's candy, chips or a soda.

Will we even still be here in the '40s? It seems soooo far in the future and a lot can happen before then. But I bet everything would be different in the year 2049. We'd be in the middle of the century.

I would be in my 50s by then. A lot of things could happen so I'm happy and scared at the same time. 2018 vs 2048  ???
