People are change-averse so older fans might hate it lol. I've seen once you try to give sth new a chance, it grows on you with time. :)
I'd love to have him become relevant again. I hope they don't ruin how he looks with CGI.
I think the closest thing to ALF in the 2010s was A Dog With A Blog - a wise-cracking member of a different speecies living with a family.

Society's obsession with binge-watching (seriously, to hell with that stupid term) shows is so overwhelming today that pretty much any popular series from the past is commercially viable to be rebooted.
