Subject: We have 15 months left of the 2010s.

Written By: Wobo on 09/02/18 at 12:29 pm

As of September 2, 2018, we have 15 more months left until December 31, 2019. That seems pretty short, September 2, 2018 - December 31, 2019. What do you guys think?

I think that the real 2010s ended Nov 2016 and 2017- early 2018 has been a transition era to get where we are now

Yeah, i kinda think we're in a missing era since it's really hard to tell if we're in 2020s culture or not.

Same. ;D

I'm trying my best to age gracefully, but I don't feel ready to turn 30 in 2023.

This whole decade feels like the 2010s to me (2009-2018). It's been a ride!

What if the next decade is defined by plagues and hunger and no pop culture at all since everyone is in dire need for life support? ???

I will never stop being amazed at how people are so welcoming to the absolute unknown. Some of you guys really think anything can be better than what we have now? What comes tomorrow evolved out of what's here today.

This is true. I'm glad I lived through some great decades in the past! But, I am also curious to see what the trends and music will be like in the next decade(2020s). Plus, I'll be in my 40s....that's epic!! True though, I don't think it will be better than what we have today or that we've had in previous decades.

I think the 2020s will depend on whether or not we can survive Trump.  I think it could either be a very dark decade or a decade of progress.  Right now, I'm leaning towards very dark.  The religious establishment in the US is not going out of power quietly and it's just a question of how ugly will it get.

The way I look at the '10s is I think I will miss this decade.  While my prime pop culture decade was the '00s, I still feel relevance, though it is now fading, in the '10s.  The '20s really won't be my generation's pop culture.  I loved the early '10s and the late '10s have a lot to like about them as well.  The mid '10s were the darkest years of my life though.  After a rough beginning of 2018, things are really on the upswing for me so depending on how 2019 goes, there's a good chance I'll finish this decade on an overall positive note.

I don't want tooooooooo
I just don't like the thought of turning to a decade where I will turn 30 in it, I feel like I dunno it will be the end of an era for me where I won't be pop culturally relevant like some people pointed out ;D

Oh well, 2019 still has yet to happen so let's make the best of it while we can ;)

30 is a lot scarier when you are 25 than it is when you are 29.  For me, 35 is intimidating because I'm halfway between 30 and 40 and officially in the "middle age" age bracket.

I thought that middle age was 45-65.

That's what the Oxford English Dictionary defines it as.

However, there is no OFFICIAL consensus. Ages 45-65 makes the most sense though.

Ages 30-44 should be considered "peak/prime adulthood" or "mature adult".

The  2010s has definitely grown on me, like most of the older members on here I didn't enjoy the early 10s as much despite being at the prime age of pop-culture  at the time. The mid 10s I did enjoy it a bit better since I was in college by then, but I still felt like a lonley teen at that point and wasn't a big fan of the pop-culture either. 2017 was the frist  2010s I genuinely enjoyed both personally and pop-culturaly. The gamming, the music, the fidget spinners (despite never owning one) and just the qurikyness of that year despite it being hated by the majority of members here. 2017 was definitely a sign of welcome to a genoration z world to me. Now most of my friends in real-life are core gen-zers. Even though I had gone through some of the hardest moments of my life in 2017 like having to lose a friend  (not being on speaking terms) and doing another year in college, I've made some amazing friends who have been a blessing in my life, started a youtube channel, discovered cool alternative video sharing sites, created a Discord server and made the Deans list at my college. The frist few months of 2018 felt like 2017 2.0 but once summer hit it just got kinda of boring being a college graduate. Hopefully fall 2018 wil make up for that boring summer.

late 2016 - 2017 was breath of fresh air, except for Trump tho, but you have to admitt it did shake things up

Pop culture was really running low in 2013 2014 2015 early 2016, its like things were on auto pilot with a few sprinkles of water cooler talk and riots shootings etc.
Looking back on the mid 2010s, it was a try hard wanna be edgy era lol its like that Shadow the Hedgehog game

I thought that middle age was 45-65.
The US Census lists the category middle age from 45 to 65. Merriam-Webster lists middle age from 45 to 64, while prominent psychologist Erik Erikson saw it starting a little earlier and defines middle adulthood as between 40 and 65.

It depends on where you look.
